I re-returned play the game, and I nearing going to the burned tower, so I was trained my pokemons for that.

I want to know what moveset I need for Geodude: Currently it has Defense Curl, Self-destruct, Rock-Throw e Magnitude. Next move is Roll-out. I am not sure if it is usefull, I want to keep self-destruct because is a great leveling (others) tool. I don't use Defense Curl that much, but I don't really know if it is usefull and I should use more.

also, while we are it. Appendix:HeartGold and SoulSilver walkthrough/Section 7 - Bulbapedia, the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia

does the selection: Geodude (24), Noctowl (24), growlithe (23), Togetic (23), Tododile (23) is good to fight against Gastly, Zubat, Magnemite and Bayleef? Should I level up Kadabra to be my sixth pokemon?

1.) Geodude is more a tank than an offensive fighter. Rock/Ground type moves can help, but until you can get Earthquake or Fissure, he's probably gonna lag behind in offensive. However, I personally don't like Magnitude so I'd probably nix that one.

2.) Your team has a serious weakness to lightning, so Magnemite might be a problem unless you save Growlith for him. I don't remember if Magnemite learns a good steel move that early, so you might wanna keep Geodude in for that one as well. However, Kadabra is ALWAYS a good pick, so he'd be a good choice. Might wanna trade up to an Alakazam if you can... I'm sure one of the many forumites here would step up to help you with it. I THINK LittleSin is the resident Pokemaniac.

Your current lineup is good... I would ditch Togetic though. Noctowl's a better flier, and Kadabra's a better psychic. Speaking of, Kadabra would round it out well. From there, I'd go for an electric... Not sure what electric mons are around that area. Geodude, I would stick with Defense Curl, just because you might need it. Self-Destruct isn't really worth a move slot.

And if the (23) are your levels, you'll crush your rival. :)

Defense Curl + Rollout = Double damage, according to the wiki. So if he's going to get Rollout, he should really keep Defense Curl. He could ditch Rock Throw and go with Rollout, though. That would leave him with SD, Rollout, Defense Curl, and Magnitude. Sounds solid.

Yeah, that sounds like a good Combo. Rock Throw is probably the weakest link, even if Magnitude has randomized damage.

thanks for the advice, I will see how it will turn out tomorow. I need to correct a mistake: Geodude is actually 21 (just a battle away from 22), and a girl (it bothers me that I have to call it a "dude")

I likely to replace togetic for Kadabra, if only because he is so awesome.

So for in the game I caught 2 eletric pokemons, that sheep that I might not play with on sheer grounds of looking stupid. And Magnemite, that I kinda like, would prefer a electabuzz, but it is good enough

A friend of mine loves Normals, he adviced to level-up a Furret (cutest little thing!) what you guys think?

and I do intend to crush my opponent, and if the game would give me the option, I would make him cry and drink his tears (seriously, I don't even know why I hate him so much)

Roll Out is great if you know you're going to overpower the 'mon you're fighting, since you'll lose control of yours. It jumps up in damage pretty fast.

If you want a Normal type, I'd suggest trading for a Bibarel with Simple for it's ability. This doubles the effectiveness of Stat Up moves on it (Both Positive and Negative), making it a VERY nasty Baton Pass target. Bibarel is also a great HM slave, as it can learn 6-7 of the HM moves. Furret really doesn't have anything going for it except maybe speed, and there are faster, stronger choices.

Mareep/ Flaffy/ Ampharos is actually a really strong electric evolution line. My personal preference is definitely that over Electabuzz.

Electabuzz is a good physical attacker, the sheep line is a good special attacker.

Most of the good Electric attacks are special attacks (Thunder, Thunderbolt).

You have to love the Mareep line's special ability to paralyze foes in defense against physical attacks too.

Yeah, I'm definitely a strong advocate for Ampharos. Love 'em.

I half the time choose based on rule of cool... and Bibarel just looks retarded >__< same, is valid for mareep-line, is really that good compared to magnemite or electabuzz?

Compared to Electabuzz, I'd say yes. I think an argument could be made either way for Magnemite. Magnet rise makes Magneton pretty bad ass.

I concure. Plus the Magnemite line learns both Lock-On and Zap Cannon, which is a VERY nasty combo. High Thunder Damage + 100% for Paralyze + 100% to hit = A Bad Day. That and Magnezone looks AWESOME.

For the main game, don't worry about picking "good" Pokémon, just pick the ones you like. You'll still be able to beat the game pretty easily.

Does anyone have general tips to how choose the moves?
I want to know the moves that I should keep.
Magnemite: Tackle, Thudershock, Thunderwave and Sonicboom. Next moves will be Spark and Lock-on - this is already near evolving, so his answer is priority.
Noctowl: has Uproar, Peck, Confusion and Hipnosis (hell of usefull). Next moves will be Take Down and Air Slash.
Growlithe: has Byte, Ember, Flame Wheel and Roar. Next moves will be Fire Fang and Take Down.
Geodude: Self-destruct (helps training other pokemons), Roll-out, Magnetude and Defense Curl. Does pokemons learn new moves at same level that they evolve? Either way, the next moves are Rock blast and earthquake.
Kadabra: Teleport, Confusion, Disable and Psi-beam. Next moves will be Reflect and Recover.

thanks for your help.

Well, nice.

I guess my main problem is that there are to many pokemons of the same tipe that I like (Water mostly).

Magnemite: Ditch Tackle and Thundershock, get Spark and Lock-On. Your going to want to keep Lock-On for a good long time, as it's deadly with Zap Cannon and can make Thunder much better as well.

Noctowl: Lose Uproar and get Air Slash. You'll probably want to get Aerial Ace on him eventually.

Growlithe: Lose Ember, get Fire Fang. I believe it crits like mad.

Geodude: Lose Magnitude, get Earthquake. It's one of the best Earth moves, hands down, and has the same advantages as Magnitude without the random damage factor.

Kadabra: Lose Teleport, get Recover. Might want to get rid of Disable as well, as it's a bit of a crap shoot.

Do I get Magnet Bomb for Magnemite?

I suppose that Crunc should replace Bite or Flail for Croconaw?

also

Does anyone knows a list of types combinations that don't exist yet? A friend and I are making a sort of "fakemon" region, and I wanted some ideas.

Here is a list of every possible type combination, the resistances/weaknesses of each combination, and the number of Pokémon with each combination. Make sure to press "Show all types" to show unused types. Keep in mind it hasn't been updated for the newly released (in Japan) generation 5.

Whoops, must have missed that. I guess it's even more useful than I thought :p

One other HeartGold/SoulSilver tip - for two weeks, starting today, Mew is being distributed over WiFi. Go to Mystery Gift in the main menu, and choose Nintendo WFC.

Yeah, do that if you can. Also, does anybody know if you can trade between D/P and HG/SS without using the GTS? If I can ever get my wi-fi working, I might be willing to toss out a Jirachi or two.

If my new eevee is a girl, should I place with it the other to breed more eevees easily... or the incestuous implications are too terrible?

I'm pretty sure it'll still kick out baby Eevee's if it's evolved. Breeding always throws out the least evolved creature in the chain.

I was actually just trying to make a joke about how you can interbreed without consequences.

Also, WOW, Eevee and Ditto are breeding like rabbits, I got two more eggs, the third I left with the Day-Care man, because I was afraid that a fourth one was going to pop up. I managed to hatch two, I am not sure if I will try to hatch the third so soon. Can you place them in the storage? I din't really tried.

Pokemon breeding defies all rules of logic. Which explains the old "Hot Skitty on Wailord Action" meme from a while back.

Actually, I felt that Ditto being fertile with any other pokemon to be somehow reasonable.

also, I was only shocked because, I got 3 eggs in a roll.

Hey again

Is perish song a good move? I was thinking in replace it with body slam, the thing is that I am not sure if it is worth the delay. Is kinda of "self-destruct" dilemma. =p

Also, does anyone can suggest a good name for a jolteon that has a biblical meaning. I was planning in giving biblical names to all my eeveelotions. The current are: Adam II (for Espeon, this is the son of the first adam), Brian (for Umbreon, not a actual biblical name as far as I know, but it sounded good enough), Noah (will become a Vaporeon). I was planning to have a Cain&Abel that would be a Leafeon + another pokemon too. =P

Perish Song is a great move if you want to force the opponent to get rid of a certain Pokemon that is ruining your day. It's also a VERY cheap way to get rid of their last hold-out if you can afford to sacrifice one. In some ways it's actually better than Self-Destruct or Explosion, as you KNOW your going to get that kill unless you use it against a rare Pokemon immune to sound. You can even get around that shortcoming by breeding it onto a Gastley and teaching them Destiny Bond (which will kill the opponents Pokemon if yours dies that turn).

That being said, if your not comfortable with the randomness of Perish Song, feel free to switch it out.
