Pakistan Drone Attack Victim Plans to Sue CIA - CBS News
This is interesting news. I am not sure where to stand on this one.
On one hand, we are not officially at war with Pakistan. The CIA (according to the article) DO have permission to operate drones in an area with Pakistan's government "blessing" per se. (need more info on this one)
Does the family have a case? if it were in the U.S. I'm sure the family would have some case if a police raid accidentally killed a neighbor who are unrelated to a criminal.
But this is more foreign policy so not sure where to begin on that one. I am sad that civilians are hurt by this "campaign" and maybe someday this family may get compensated.
Of course this will make CIA job much harder. According to the article, the local may REQUIRE to shelter militant personal. This mean these local can and have been targeted by drones. What are the rules of engagement then? are they consider "militant by association" or "militant by coercion" (that is how I see it) Does this mean we can attack them? or not?
Tricky area, and something to think about. Alas, I don't have an answer or a theory at this juncture. It is more of a "open your mind and think about it" post
