Wow.

This should've been a feature length film aired in theaters. It's really one of the best superhero "films" I've seen. The action is spot on. The characters are right. The pacing is superb. The music is perfect. All around win. Especially in directing. 5/5.

There aren't too many negatives. The actor playing Shazam himself was a bit weak. There weren't enough people around (probably to save animation costs). Overall, it was too short, which is probably its major weakness.

Been on my netflix instant que for a while, maybe I'll finally sit down with it tonight. I've heard nothing but good things thus far.

It is actually pretty good. I picked up the Bluray...I guess I am old school and like to own something physical. The upside is if you don't have the other DC animated movies the Sups/Shazam bluray has the DC showcase shorts for Green Arrow, Jonah Hex, and the Specter. All three are pretty enjoyable.

Yeah, all three were on the Netflix, too. I had only watched the first short when I reviewed, but they're all equally good.

Not a fan of just Billy in a bigger body or delusions of godhood Adam, but that was pretty sweet overall.

Yeah, this set was pretty great. I really dug them all, and was left wanting more; which is always a good thing. I still don't like "celebrities" doing voice-actor work, but what can you do.

Okay, sure, but he's been "Billy in a bigger body" since the Crisis.
And sales where never good for him under DC...

I prefer they would just go with it being like his mind being like Billy would be as an adult (with the wisdom of Solomon), and he's just that cheesy because there was never any middle-teenage years in between to sour him... and that's why they seem like 2 different personalities...

Also, is it really so hard to name the comic SHAZAM! Comics (or even it's original Whizz Comics), you know, like Action or Detective... stop people from not knowing the characters names.

Except they've already tried to do this by renaming Captain Marvel Jr. into Shazam a while back. He's now got a new comic series with Billy and Mary that's about Freddy trying to get them back their powers. So now the comic SHAZAM! is now actually about Shazam.

The short was good, but I still want somebody to do a Superman/Shazam!: First Thunder movie.

I really hated the direction they went with Capt. Marvel in the past few years. He was like the last Golden Age holdout, and they had to corrupt him, too. I mean, wasn't that his whole schtick? Now he's just like everyone else. Without the innocence, he's not much fun anymore.

I blame Kingdom Come.

Oh, and though it's probably obvious from the ratings, the last short (Jonah Hex) is NOT for kids. Considering it involves lots of gruesome death and hooking.

Isn't the whole reason Captain Marvel was corrupted because the Wizard basically said "I gotta go. Here, you take over."? He was isolated and forced to sit on that damn rock for a long time, stuck as Captain Marvel, without any time to receive his grounding as Billy. It's really not all that surprising that he finally lost it...

I'm pretty sure similar things have happened to Superman. Without time to be Clark, he tends to get crazy.

And that's exactly the opposite of what i was talking about...

Superman has Action Comics and Batman has Detective comics... Making it Shazam Comics would fit in with that and help people make the same connection...

Isn't Action Comics about Lex Luther now? It's sort of turned into another Brave and the Bold, only instead of Batman, it's Lex.

It's a joke we're talking about here.

I actually blame the writers and the bankrollers above them. CM has to be angsty.

Though I don't care much for the use of Alex Ross and the like in comics. He's a great artist, but I read comics for the escape from reality. If I wanted to see a realistic, dumpy Captain Marvel, I'd go to Comic Con.

Man, I got excited when I saw this pop up in Netflix. Although I was thrilled to find out it was a series of shorts I don't understand why on earth they didn't title it differently. DC Showcase or something similar would have explained what it is much better.

Also: The Spectre is awesome.

Also also: I love the guy moterboating the chick in the bar in the Jonah Hex short. Ha!
