You know how you make it obvious who's going to win best picture? When you have a montage of all the films nominated and audio overlaid from just one film. What a gong show.

I did like Anne and Frank though.

Awards were very predictable.

Now I'm off to download some movies and watch them, hopefully not having to endure another Mystic River.

Didn't know they were on, didn't watch, didn't care. Looking at the results, the Academy was all over the King's Speech, and threw the "I don't care, sound editing, what?" kinds of awards at Inception because they liked it, when Inception wasn't even nominated for Best Editing. Without the editing, that wouldn't have been the movie it was. I didn't expect Darren Aronofsky to get anything, but I would've been pleasantly surprised--instead Black Swan's only attention was Natalie Portman's award, and while I'm happy for her, I think the film deserved cinematography and/or directing.

The show was pretty shitty in every respect, but my party ruled.

I also overreacted when King's Speech won Best Director and walked around my apartment pushing my movies off the shelves exclaiming 'CINEMA IS DEAD'.

Last year's The Hurt Locker win was especially fail. It was obvious that they catered to the director over another who's already gotten his "fame" and the fact that the Oscars will rarely and I mean rarely give anything substantial to a movie that made a lot of money.

Anne was fresh and fun, Frank did a fair strait-man.

I was a little surprised that The Social Network did not gain any of the acting wins.

It would be cool if Blizzard brought back the Natalee Portman Rocks message for your log in for a couple of days.

How Green Was My Valley is a damn fine film, and remember Citizen Kane was not seen by anyone. Also the most powerful man in America did not want you to see it...

Watched the whole thing and think the guys/gals who won for things like cinematography or editing got screwed. They said that they were each supposed to get 45 seconds but the music started almost immediately for them while the stars for the big awards were able to talk as long as they wanted.

My wife thought Anne did a great job but would have been better solo and I agree. I like Franco, but he looked at times like he was bored.

And I hate, hate, HATE the fake, obviously scripted back & forth that some pairs have. I know why they have it but it comes across as forced and fake as shit.

It's a room full of actors - they could at least ACT like they're not forcing it or staring dead-eyed at a teleprompter. Or, God forbid, ad-lib a little if they hate the lines so much.

Did anyone else think it was a terrible idea to have Kirk Douglas come out? I mean some of what he did was funny but it was also really, really sad.

Franco looked baked as FUCK, haha. Anne Hathaway could've maybe relaxed a little more. Overall, it was a pretty dull show. I thought Kirk Douglas was the best part! They could've had him host that shit. He had quite a lot of spunk for such a seasoned dude, lol.

Also, what the heck was with the bit where Hathaway introduced someone who introduced someone else (Hilary Swank and I can't remember who else)? I mean to say, how many people did they need prancing about the place?

They need to trot the royalty out every once in a while, so we can remember them. I was just a little disappointed that Tom Hanks did not ad lib "I am Spartacus"

They should have dropped a Lifetime Achievement award on Kirk Douglas while they still have the chance.

I wish they'd have done something like show some clips from his work so we remember him. Too many people I know are all like, "Who's this old guy?" and not know he's a damned genius.

I watched the Canadian Women's Curling Championship and was not disappointed. Then flipped over to the Oscars, ended up going 8/24 in predictions while my wife won with night with 9 correct.

I wondered the same thing. Swank introduced Kathryn Bigelow, last year's winner of Best Director. I was watching with my brother at the time, and he suggested that perhaps they trotted out someone recognizable because no one would know/care about Bigelow. Still, it was awkward and unnecessary.

I liked King's Speech better, but Fincher should have totally won Best Director. At least Sorkin got his. That would have been bananas if Sorkin lost too. I don't really think that the cast of Social Network was all that great, but Fincher made them great (IMO). That might not make sense.

I've known for months that King's Speech would win an Oscar, because it's a period drama with british accents that will be forgotten in 3 months. Just like Shakespeare in Love and The English Patient. Shakespeare in Love also featured Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush. Now, Geoffrey Rush is a great actor and I enjoy most of his work. I loathe Colin Firth.

At least you actually got to see people win awards. The Grammys was just one loooong concert with a lot of, "And now, presenting [insert name here], winner of tonight's [insert category here]!" while you were left wondering, "Wait, who won what when?"
