No, no, the GOPers put up an even more conservative version of the plan, confident that the Dems would filibuster it by voting "no", so they wouldn't lose the Medicare vote while still being able to mug for the "CUT ALL ENTITLEMENTS" tea party crowd while the Dems got shrill. The Dems called their bluff, voted "present" (no filibuster), and all the GOPers who didn't want to lose the Medicare vote (most of them) freaked out and all flipped their votes before the plan could be passed. So Democrats put up an extremely conservative budget and it would have hurt the Republicans if it passed?
Got your wish (it's in the OP link).I MUST see a video of this.
Yup. It is pure genius I love it. The GOP was bluffing and the Dem called them on it.That is absolutely brilliant. Big ups to the Dems for this one. When the reps took over I made a comment about how the Reps would throw a bunch of straw man proposals forward for the Dems to shoot down so they could say they stood for something (even though these proposals would be absolutely terrible to do), glad to see that the Dems finally called their bluff on this process.
