I just want you to know, I'm David Nihsen. And I'm real.

This does not surprise me at all. I have seen some weird, weird things on various message boards and in online groups that I've belonged to.

You know, I honestly other than the image and PVP boards and now here have never spent much time on any other message board but I have gathered that there are some weird and crazy folks hanging out online.

My weird and crazy cousins have started talking to my mom after their mom died and they have warned her how careful she needs to be with any information they give her or she has about them because, and I quote, "there are people on message boards that want us dead and will use this information to get to us". Which is either a supreme showing of their own mental instability (trust me, seriously, you have no idea) or their own interactions with people just like them. It's because of them that I really don't venture off this board.

More examples of crazy, cult like abuse on the internet? Check out this story from a Final Fantasy Fan that bit off far more then they can chew.

I know certain members of the board will feel these young girls should have known better. You may be right, however I feel that there are people out there that are both genuinely crazy and manipulative, so don't be to harsh.

Dang. that is one mess up situation. Sadly, the world are full of crazies of different level. I have met some people that actually believe that movie characters are REAL (any movie) or even books. so, I'm not surprise.

Jesus Tapdancing Christ.

I've been pretty fortunate with my online meetings. This place and three other forums (two of which are dead now) have shown me some fairly awesome people.

But there are some twisted shits out there.

I read the FF Fan one years ago, and I guess because of that, this one doesn't surprise me. Depress the hell out of me, yeah. Surprise me, no.

On the net, we all want to connect - that's why we're online, after all. But having people take advantage of that... it's really twisted. And unfortunately, it's just going to keep happening.

There's actually a documentary where something nearly similar happens. Not NEARLY as heartbreaking as this. Unfortunately, to tell the name of the title also spoils the ending (the reveal of who the real person is). So, for anyone curious, I'll put the name of the movie behind spoiler text.

Isn't there some substantial debate as to the veracity of that movie? It unfolds so perfectly, with a buildup and dramatic climax timed just right... I'm skeptical.

Wait, if the title is a spoiler, how would we know what movie to see?

Well, it's not, but in this context, the reveal of the movie would have to be similar to the posts in this thread. So no matter the title, the reveal at the end is ruined by knowing what we're talking about. To be honest about 80% of the enjoyment in the movie is the reveal, but at this point, since we've 'ruined' it, you'd have to stumble across it accidentally to get the complete experience.

It does seem like that, doesn't it? I suspect, that while the meetup was filmed as it happened, that they shot the NYC bits for narrative purposes after the fact from whatever they remembered
