Call your mother, asshole!

You heard me!

Do something nice for the woman that pushed you out naked and screaming into the wild blue.

Had lunch with one of my mothers yesterday, dinner with the mother of my children yesterday evening. Will be on the phone with the of my mothers tonight.

To the rest of you.... YOU HEARD THE MAN!

That's a sensible request.

I hear other people jumping through hoops and going "Oh no, Mother's Day is coming and I'm not ready!" Then ask "What are you doing for Mother's Day?"
"Well, I've got her number on my phone and I know how to call it."

I'm exceptionally ill, and have come down with a very nasty cold all of a sudden. I brought my mother chocolates and my sick self for her to mother.

I planned on calling my mom 2 hours ago.

But I've been stuck on a conference call at work for the last THREE hours, on an issue that I'm only tangentially involved in and for which I can provide no useful insight or solutions to their problems. So, I suppose I'll call her when they figure something out and I can hang up.

Thank god I get paid by the hour at this gig.
Can you still bill for all of the T&M if you mute them for a few minutes to make that call?

1. She's at work right now.

2. I already sent her cards, one from us and one from the kids. I also sent $50 to my dad so he could get her something from us rather than buying her yet another gift card. It's not like I can just go to one of her favorite local restaurants or the salon she goes to and buy her a gift certificate. She has allergies, so flowers are not a good idea.

3. I sent my mother-in-law cards, too. And had 2 fresh pineapples sent to her from Dole. I wanted to do something different for her and she loves fresh fruits.

I, on the other hand, got a handmade card from my son. I also got a Wii Fit balance board :)

I called the cemetery but they refused to give her the phone. Something about being "permanently indisposed".

I haven't called my mother, mostly 'cause I'll go see her in a bit.

I have called all of yours though. We have our typical Friday night dinner/movie/bang date set up. It's nothing special but it gets all of your mothers out of the house and gets me laid (again by all your mothers) so it's still nice.

I just did.

The call ended with me hearing that my washing machine was done, prompting the following discussion:

Me: Gotta go Mom, the washing's done, gotta go hang up some underwear.
Mom: Have you already set the washing lines on the balcony? (during winter I have to let my clothes dry indoors)
Me: No, not yet. Plus I'd rather not put my underwear out to dry on the balcony, you know, outta courtesy to the people who live across me. (There's a rather narrow gap between my balcony and those of the adjacent block of flats)
Mom: So? It's not like they're going to see. And if somebody enjoys seeing underwear dry, let 'em.
Me: ... Mom? Ewwww.

Gotta say I love her to bits, though... and it's kinda funny how my mom, just about the most proper Baby Boomer generation working wife/mother of three, still manages to catch me offguard sometimes.

Hyvää äitienpäivää...

Call? Pfft. I got up, went over there, and made brunch for my mom and dad. Also delivered some flowers I picked up last night. :p

I called my mom and my grandma. My grandma doesn't really remember her English anymore, but she likes hearing from family regardless.

I cooked mom some fish tacos and pinto beans. My sister made a cobbler. We swam all day. She's been caring for her two sick parents day and night. But today, they both shooed her out and told her they didn't want to see her til tomorrow afternoon. She looks rested. I'm glad. :)

Ninja-purchased cards for my wife from myself and my daughter last night, despite having the busiest day in recent memory, pre-bought her some flowers, sent cards from us and our daughter to my mother a week ago... got it covered.

I misread this at first and thought that you had sent flowers and a card to your mother back in time, and I was like man I gotta learn how to collapse that waveform.

I did my part by getting my mother a copy of the latest Harry Potter DVD, plus showing her Jack Sparrow because she's a big Pirates of the Caribbean/Michael Bolton fan. She was delighted by the former and pronounced the latter 'cute' (because of the 'faces the young guys used') but 'shitty' because of all the language. :-P
