Also I wonder what characters he'll introduce to fill out the Seth McFarland family.

Fat husband, check.
Hot wife, check
Nerdy son missing
Dino will probably talk now
Pebbles and bam bam are going to have to talk and one of them will be sassy/too smart in some way.
Betty and Barney will probably be the same but could possibly be used to fill in other roles.

We can probably expect a lot more from Kazoo.

Seth is capable of doing more family-friendly stuff. He was one of the main writers on Johnny Bravo. I'm willing to at least give him a chance first. When he announced he got it, he did seem to have a little reverence for the original material.

Are they expecting this to run during the Sunday Animation Domination? I know The Flintstones was originally family programming, but it's been viewed as kids stuff for at least as long as I've been alive... they're going to have a lot of trouble doing this.

The original run had this...

We'll have Wilma and Betty rule 34'd in prime time before we'll ever go back to those days.

Why would the Flintstones need a makeover? The only odd thing I notice when watching the original run is that everyone keeps talking about "pizza pies".

Well, I guess the '80s had been pretty well picked through for reboot material.

With this and the recent Looney Tunes show, how far behind can a Jetsons reboot be?

Took the words right out of my mouth.

Y'know, Seth MacFarlane was hired by Hanna-Barbera straight out of college based on the strength of his thesis short, The Life of Larry. He worked on Johnny Bravo for five years ('97-'02), with 20 episodes of the series to his credit. He worked on Dexter's Labratory for the first season, with 26 episodes to his credit. Family Guy is not the sum total of man's abilities (I personally find American Dad to be his best show and it really doesn't follow his supposed formula). I personally think it wiser to wait for something more detailed than "He's re-making The Flinstones" before writing it off completely.

I thought the original cartoon was terrible, not funny in the slightest, poorly animated, and was written by people who apparently got stoned in a room and thought up as many dinosaur and rock puns as possible before knocking out an entire season of material.

So even if this new show is only funny once in its entire run, it's probably still going to be better than the original.

What Piotyr said.

This is now my favorite "they're going to ruin" topic. "But it'll never suck as much as the original. He's going to ruin it."

The original at least had the excuse of being made in the 60's...

Man, I love The Life of Larry. I still say, "Excuse me... do you have any yellow redneck mustard??"
I for one was totally surprised when i find out that the Larry & Steve What A Cartoon was made by the same guy that did Family Guy...

Two things about this statement feel very wrong to me.
Well it is his best show that's on the air... i was actually surprised to laugh at some of teh jokes because they where funny instead of just stupid.
