Well you know that each is their own game story wise. If you just want to play multiplayer then you just need the first one

The guy was calling it an expansion in the video. This is also the 2nd video I've seen where they say it'll have around 20 missions. I feel like that would be waaaayyyyy too small to call a full game. How many missions does WoL have? I think I'm like 15 missions in? There's no way I'm close to done though.

SC2:WoL has 29 unique missions. That was one less then SC1, which had 30 unique missions. I felt WoL made up for that and more with all the extra little meta-gaming that could be done. The last level plays a lot differently based on how you handle researching pathing.

One thing of note is that HotS is not going to play exactly like WoL. Kerrigan is going to be a constant figure in the Zerg army as a "hero unit" similar to what you would see in WC3. My understanding, for those that played The Frozen Throne, is that each mission will be long and detailed, involving lots of travel similar to the Orc Campaign with Rexxar. So while 20 missions may seem low by expansion standards (Brood War has 26), each mission could be much longer then the standard one to make up for it.

Will have to wait and see though, everything I have heard hint to it being expansion priced, but that could easily change.

My position has always been: it should be priced according to however much effort was put into it. If it has a full game worth of effort and resulting fun, I'm fine with $60. There's nothing magical about initial games that make them worth $60 and expansions that make them worth $40. From the sounds of it though (i.e. only 20 missions), it seems to be designed according to expansion standards.

I'm a bit torn about the number of missions - I thought that the terran campaign dragged a bit, story wise. But I also felt that every single mission had a unique twist that fully explored the possibilities of single player gameplay. 20 missions would probably have a more compact story but miss out on some potential for gameplay.

Then again, WoL had those random protoss missions thrown in (can't remember, think there was about 5?) so we may be looking at close to the same number of regular missions.

I thought WoL's missions where too many for what they did (normal map with a twist)... but that might have just been because of the lack of story in the mission maps and the by the numbers overall story... i mean really, telling me the ending half way through would have sucked even if we had the full zerg and 'toss campaigns too...

And yes, both campaigns will be expansions, they said that a long time ago.

It's all in Activision's hands now...

I must admit, I hugely enjoyed WoL, so even if they price it at $60, I'm probably getting it.
