Marvel vs Capcom 3

That's an outright bold faced lie.

Rocket Raccoon had more requests than Mega Man. Eat. Fucking. Shit.
Um, Rocket Raccoon is a Marvel character, so he couldn't have edged out any of the capcom characters.

The sentiment remains the same, though. I hardly believe that there was a huge public outcry for Rocket Raccoon over any other Marvel character I can think of.

However, speaking of DLC characters, I just found out that Freddy Kreuger is coming out as a DLC character for Mortal Kombat.

My bad, replace Rocket Raccoon with Firebrand.

Um, can't agree with you there Frank. Firebrand > Megaman (In coolness factor for me anyway) Though in popularity I would agree with you.

Don't get me wrong. I think it's fucking rad that Firebrand is there. I love Gargoyle's Quest. I just think it's complete bullshit to use the excuse "The demand wasn't there, he just didn't rank." when talking about the exclusion of Mega Man. Frank West even. Again for whatever reason, Capcom Japan seems to think America fucking loves Frank West.

Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Daredevil, Any of the Fantastic Four, Namor, Cyclops, Green Goblin, Loki, Punisher, Apocalypse, Red Skull, Venom, Dr. Strange, Absorbing Man, Fixer, Ultron, Mister Sinister, Quasar, Nova, Mystique, Bullseye, Doctor Octopus, Mysterio, Electro, Sabertooth, Juggernaut, Moon Knight, Black Panther, Storm, Havok, Iceman...

Personally I'm really looking forward to -

Only problem is I fear that Capcom will make 2-3 versions that won't be compatible to play online with each other. :(

Man, I feel nothing for that game. I can't imagine the two games playing well together without completely crushing one style or the other.

They crushed the Tekken style. Gameplay footage is pure SF4 for the most part. None the less, I can't wait to use Kazuya to pound the entire Capcom cast into the ground.

Actually, Frank does have a pretty good following, if only because 90% of us portray him as an insane lunatic on the level of Deadpool. Phoenix Wright has the following too and he was originally supposed to be in Tatsunoko Vs Capcom, but they couldn't find a way to balance him. But yeah, Megaman trumps them both in terms of popularity... I'd say they are trying to get back at Inafune, but Frank's one of his.

What I really want to know is why we're getting Phoenix Wright in this, but we're not getting the second Ace Attorney Investigations and possibly not Phoenix Wright Vs Professor Layton. Capcom has been making some really terrible decisions ever since they got rid of Clover.

Well, Capcom washed their hands of Wright/Layton. They say it's up to Level 5 to do anything with.

And I still don't think Frank West is as huge here as Capcom Japan seems to think he is. Would you buy Dead Rising 2 remade with Frank West? Japan seems to think so. That whole thing seems like madness to me. Capcom is dead.

POWERHOUSE GLOBAL COMPANIES CAPCOM® AND SANRIO® ANNOUNCE PARTNERSHIP TO CREATE HELLO KITTY X STREET FIGHTERTM CO-BRANDED MERCHANDISE

SAN DIEGO – July 22, 2011 – Capcom® Entertainment, Inc., a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, and Sanrio, Inc., creator of beloved icon Hello Kitty®, today announced a partnership to create a new line of co-branded Street Fighter™ themed merchandise that will launch in fall 2012. The collaboration will be a fusion of the unique styles of these world-famous brands, yielding a broad range of merchandise featuring Hello Kitty dressed in the distinct costumes from the Street Fighter series of video games.

“Capcom has long admired Sanrio and their ability to create memorable and cherished lifestyle brands so it is a distinct pleasure to partner with them for this new cross-over line of merchandise,” said Joshua Izzo, Director of Licensing, Capcom Entertainment, Inc. “The combination of Street Fighter and Hello Kitty will offer fans a whole new way to experience our characters.”

“We are always looking for new ways to surprise our fans and partnering with a strong brand-focused company such as Capcom is a natural fit for us,” said Jill Koch, Vice President of Brand Management and Marketing, Sanrio, Inc. “Hello Kitty and Street Fighter have a dedicated core following around the world and our collaboration brings the legacy of both brands together in a fun and unexpected way.”

Specific details on the co-branded merchandise and retailer availability will be released at a later date.

Street Fighter® was first released in the arcades in 1987. This was followed up in 1991 with the smash hit Street Fighter® II, and as of April 12, 2011, the series as a whole has shipped more than 31 million units on home consoles worldwide. The innovative battle system found in the Street Fighter games helped to establish the fighting game genre for video games.

Considering I didn't buy Dead Rising 2 because I didn't have my 360 yet, I probably would. But only if the keep Chuck as the second player. They already proved it was possible to do two entirely different characters as Co-Op in Case West.

It's only good if they bother making it... which they might just be doing, considering they only just released the latest Professor Layton on the 3DS. But we haven't heard anything about it since the announcement... in fact, I never heard that Capcom was done with the project. When did they announce that?

I'm thinking I might pick this up. I missed out on the first one, so at least I can jump in with this.

Also, I am interested with what exactly they'll do with Phoenix Wright as a fighting character. The most I can figure is him shouting "Objection!" as a projectile attack.

Actually, both companies are making a crossover game:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Street_Fighter_X_Tekken and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tekken_X_Street_Fighter

The first one, Streetfighter X Tekken, is made by Capcom and thus incorporates gameplay a la SF. However, they have included some of Tekken's playstyle, apparently there's going to be an option to switch between styles.
Namco is going to make one as well (Tekken X Streetfighter), although that one is still in 'early development'. This version will of course have Tekken gameplay.

They basically swapped licenses to use each others characters.

Even though this whole "Ultimate" thing pisses me off to no end, here are videos for two of the new fighters:

Doctor Strange

Nemesis

I'm no fighting game fan. In fact I think they're horribly repetitive after about 10 minutes. However, I would probably pay to see characters like Darth Vader and Freddy Krueger in one.

Yes, that's what I was referring to. Somebody mentioned that including Freddy Krueger sounded like I joke. I was saying that I'm the person they were marketing those to.

I know it could never happen due to licensing costs, but I think a completely random fighting game featuring various characters would do well. Darth Vader, Freddy Kruger, Rambo, whatever. If the roster was just filled with pop culture icons it would be awesome.

On the topic, I was super looking forward to seeing how Doc Strange played. SUPER disappointed. He looks really boring. On the other hand, Nemesis looks fantastic and I thought he was going to look like shit.

See, I thought the opposite. Strange seems to have a lot of moves designed to control the battlefield, but not a lot of direct attacks. It seems like the idea is to box in the opponent then go for the kill.

Nemisis, on the other hand, is basically what I thought he'd be: A few strong ranged moves and then some decently fast strong attacks, with a bit of transformation to give him range. It was entirely predictable.

I suspect Rocket Raccoon is going to be Marvel's version of Amaterasu: Small and quick, but with a lot of varied moves. I know he can fly and has a fondness for very large guns so it's very likely that his special will involve at least a gatling gun.

Anyone who's played against a good Venom or Testament player in GGX can tell you that moves like Doc Strange's (Battlfield Control/Air Mines) can be BRUTAL when used effectively.

Agreed on all points. His style was like a character-swap with Magneto, right down to the kicks :( Nemesis had at least a semi-different style.
