huh. Literally the only thing they have in common is a lone alien.I haven't seen Paul. I actually forgot about it. My first reaction when I saw the trailer was, "Hey, it's live-action American Dad!"
Oh man, I'm getting visions of them riffing on horror movies with a heavy does of "Abbot and Costello meet..." thrown in...I liked Paul well enough. Its true that Simon and Nick do not make the same great writing team tht Simon and Edgar (Or Simon and Jessica, if you've seen Spaced) do, but it was still enjoyable. Lots of great nerd references worked in... and really, an alien having a theological argument while pooping? COME ON! What's not to like?!
But I can't wait for the whole crew to get back together and finally complete the Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy. There's been a lot of alien movies the past two years, so I'm beginning to think their next film may bot be an alien movie after all (Plus, Edgar Wright's friend basically made that movie, and it even starred Nick Frost, already). Only other thing I can think of that would befit a mint green cornetto is a monster flick.
Negative reviews I could see stemming from the maguffin-filled plot and the atrocious 3D (the movie was already dark, and under 3D people say it was very difficult to make out what was going on in night shots).Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
I liked it, I don't quite see why it got negative reviews, it was quite entertaining and Jack Sparrow's still a lot of fun. Also, Penelope Cruz is hot.
The line about the Spanish convent might be my favorite movie quote ever.
Some, but the fact is that 3D post-conversion darkens the film so when you shoot you have to compensate for that. Most do not or can't, so no matter how poorly the theater deals with the lamp it's still going to have sub-par picture quality.I wonder how much the issue of "3D ruins the movie is the theater falsely trying to be cheap and running the projection lamp on a low setting.
Watched John Carpenters "The Ward" last night. Here's my review from my website, www.youusedtomakegoodmoviesandnowyoumakethingslikethisjohncarpentercommareallyquestionmark.com
Actually the website name kind of sums it up.
That's such a great movie.I live in undying fear of defibrillating someone, only to have chest-jaws bite my hands off to this day.
I would love to see how that movie would have been with Charlie Heston in it.Gran Torino
Wow... now that was a climax. After the local Hmong Gangsters exact vengeance on his neighbors, Charlton Heston completely defies expectations and ensures that not only will the violence end, but in a way that sends a message to the kid he befriended. Easily my favorite twist since the Shawshank Redemption.
This movie is so good, I may actually buy it.
*insert incredibly racist Planet of the Apes paraphrase here*I would love to see how that movie would have been with Charlie Heston in it.
Notable also because Eastwood has said it will be his last role as an actor.*facepalms* Your right, it was Clint Eastwood. I feel dumb. Still the best movie I've seen in a long time.
Yeah, but he had said that about Million Dollar Baby as well. Though really, this is probably the movie to go out on.Notable also because Eastwood has said it will be his last role as an actor.
Do you mean acting or directing....OR BOTH?!?!I really liked Gran Torino, but I gotta be honest, Eastwood movies are, for me, incredibly hit or miss.
Directing wise, mine would be Unforgiven, Million Dollar Baby, and Gran Torino. Acting... everything is awesome. I still have so many Eastwood westerns to watch.Do you mean acting or directing....OR BOTH?!?!
Directing wise, I've liked Changeling, Mystic River, and Unforgiven. The rest either were bad, boring, or had no interest to me really.

Which one of those does Million Dollar Baby fall into? The rest either were bad, boring, or had no interest to me really.
Really? Aw, damn. I was hoping that it would be as good as the other Del Toro produced flick, "The Orphan". Thats a shame.Dont be Afraid of the Dark this past weekend...whooo boy, was that bad. Unintentionally hilarious bad.
I saw it opening night, but had I not, I would've heard about that woman bitching and spoling the ending because of her son, and then Ebert saying no one has the right to do that.I wasn't super interested in Million Dollar Baby, and then someone spoiled it for me, and I got mad and tried to wait for a while so I'd semi-forget it, and then just never have seen it.
