Bracer Etchings?

As I mentioned yesterday in the EPIC Win thread, I finally went and ordered myself a longbow. And as part of that deal, the bowyer also offered to make me a bracer to my bow arm (one that goes around the wrist and the arm so that the string doesn't slice the skin with every bowing), like so:

He also offered to etch a design of my choice onto the bracer, as long as I didn't ask for anything that was too complex. So far I'm considering two designs, one based on my love of fantasy, the other for my love of the Medieval:

The White Tree of Gondor...

...or the Crusaders' Cross (also known as Jerusalem Cross):

Allen also suggested the Bar Sinister, but that design didn't quite hit the mood I was looking for. But knowing we have a fair number of artistically inclined people, fantasy geeks and I bet even a few Medieval nuts among us, I decided to check out what other designs were out there.

Any suggestions? ;)

I don't know what to suggest to you but if I were getting it done I would get what has become my own personal sigil, according to my friends.

An octopus. Or Cthulu. I'm not sure when this came about but, as you can tell, I'm not about to change it.

I love the allomantic metal symbols from the Mistborn series, but unless you like those books they probably won't appeal as much. (I would totally etch the Atium symbol on something myself)

Oh man, you should design your own sigil after an animal you like. That way when people ask you "why is there a bear* on your bracer?" you can reply, as sternly as possible:

That is the mark of House Harkonen.** It is a symbol of my pride. You would do well to remember it, along with my house's words 'down with pants, up with skirts'. Good day"

*I don't know what animals you like
**I also don't know your last name.

To be honest, I did play around with the notion of designing my own coat-of-arms... A stylized wolf-pit on a field of green, based on my surname which translates to 'A Wooded Place' after the first farm of my great-great-grandfather, and the profession of my most distant known ancestor. He was a jahtivouti, roughly translating as 'hunting bailiff' or 'master of the hunt' if you want to make that sound a tad epic. Basically, he was in charge of maintaining traps to keep woodland predators away from the village cattle, as well as organizing a hunt if a bear or a wolf pack started diminishing the herds or threatening people.

The Iron Cross, that way people will assume you're a skin-head.
I think my buzzcut and being paler than an anemic Conan O'Brien wearing pancake make-up are enough to lead people to such faulty deductions, don't you think? :p

I agree with this. It'd make your bracer a lot more unique than if you'd just used a design from somewhere else.

He makes the first tally mark, and looks over to NR and nervously asks when this first kill was. NR calmly takes the bow and looks him in the eye.

"A few minutes after your 2 minute head start"

Underneath is engraved "Haters gonna hate" in Gothic calligraphic script.

I'm replying to this only because I couldn't "Like" it twice.
