Games on SALE!

Interesting new site selling independent games: IndieRoyale
Every two weeks they'll put up a new bundle of indie games for a cheap price. Every purchase at the minimum will increase the price for future buyers, while those who beat the minimum will cause the price to go back down. The games are usually available DRM-free, but are also redeemable on Steam (and sometimes require it). Sounds like it's games that can't be part of the Humble bundles because they aren't on Mac & Linux. Interesting concept, but not quite as compelling as the HIB.
The launch bundle is:
A.R.E.S. Extinction Agenda
Gemini Rue
Sanctum
Nimbus
Be wary of this one if you're planning on activating this on Steam: a lot of people are complaining about duplicate keys (I got one). I sent them an email, so we'll see how this plays out. I like the idea though.

I'm following them on Twitter now, so I'll update the thread if/when the situation gets resolved.

I think that the true worth of customer service is shown not a lack of known problems, but by the response to problems when they arise. (Which is one reason I love Newegg, they've been very good when I've had issues.)

Think Terraria is worth getting? Do I really need another minecraft type game to siphon off my dwindling mortality?

I haven't played either but I heard it said that Bioshock 2 makes the first one worse just by virtue of its existence.

Dare I ask why? I'm midway through Bioshock, and was considering following up when I finish it.
Pros:

The gameplay in general is better than in the original, namely the weapons, the new plasmid upgrades and the ability to dual wield plasmids and weapons.

Cons:

Most of the environments are utterly uninteresting.
A TON of escort missions that you HAVE to go through for the "good" ending.
The story isn't bad per se but it would arguably be better in a different game.
Said story does some AWFUL retconning to events in the first game (specifically, the main antagonist, Sofia Lamb, was a major figure in Rapture's history yet was somehow NEVER MENTIONED in Bioshock 1)
The single player was clearly truncated to make room for the multiplayer mode.

Or you could just watch Yahtzee's review. I don't think I've ever agreed more with him on a game than this one.

The only good part of this game was the Minerva's Den DLC. If only they made THAT the whole game instead of this.

These would be my picks, based on value and personal experience.

Honestly, they should have changed the plot of the game to make Mark Meltzer from the ARG they promoted the game with into the hero. His story is much more interesting and very tragic... so much so they added him to the game proper to give him a finale to his story.

Terraria is not Minecraft-like, it IS Minecraft, only a 2D version.
So the question now becomes, do I wanna hand over a small amount of cash for the privilege to play Minecraft with one less dimension?

Terraria was a fantastic little time killer for me. Took about 2-3 weeks to do "everything" there is to do in it.

It's not 2D minecraft. It does ALOT that Minecraft doesn't. It has a nice battle sytem, an interesting weapon/armor crafting system and it doesn't feel "pointless" like Minecraft does (outside of making a nice place to live in).
