Ladies and gentleman, step right up for a once in a lifetime oppurtunity. I'm getting a tattoo, (most proabably the royal crest of hyrule) but I do not know where I want it. I have kinda reserved my upper back for another piece of work later down the track, same as my chest. Being a rather skinny (5'11 and under 150 pounds) person, I dont exactly have the muscular biceps of a guido to ink all over. Suggestions people?

so yeah, according to that chart and my future plans... I'm getting all but the red, pink and purple. But thats a long time away. I want to finish my piercing projects completely before that much ink. I just want a piece or 2 now, because my family is paying for it for christmas

I know what I want to get inked, I just don't know where. I only have a limited amount of skin and so many tatts I want to get, This was more for ideas on placement.

And yes piercing projects. I have an awesome idea for my ear that needs a few more holes, a lot more body parts that need metal shoved through them and I think my gentlemanly piercing needs to be stretched out a bit.

Speaking as someone with a couple of tattoos.

Tattoos are a highly personal thing and you should not let ANYONE influence your decision. Tattoo art is theoretically with you for a lifetime. I discourage you from getting any ink that does not have a deep meaning to you.

I also highly recommend not getting anything you can not cover up with a t-shirt. Simple reason being business culture does not want visible tats lest the almighty customer be offended.

This. Same reasonaing as this as well. Every one of my tats can be easily covered if necessary.

Too many of my fellow officers are having to wear these asinine covers on their forearms (because long sleeves in Savannah summer Does Not Work) because of our newly-revised tattoo policy. One of them was trying to get back into the Marine Corps, and is having to jump through all sorts of hoops, because of the Corps' draconian policy.

Tattoos are a great way to show off an aspect of yourself, so long as you remember that the folks who will probably end up signing your paychecks may not have the same views as you.

tl;dr, I agree with Shannow and Fnord, with some personal anecdotes.

Yeah, I have 4 tatts now, and plan on explanding on one and getting a few others, but they are all easily coverable (thank god I was smart enough for that, with all the interviews and what not I have to go throgh now looking for a new job since my current one is being downsized Jan 10)

As a small aside....I have always wondered if you could fight something like that. As in "well, before, you did not have this policy on tatts, but now you do. Through no fault of my own, you changed that, and while I understand that I can not get any more, you cannot tell me to cover/change myself when I was completely in policy before, especially when these are a permanent part of me now"

Tats would be covered under a uniform policy, and businesses can change their uniform policy and force everyone to comply - ie, they don't have to grandfather old uniforms in.

Again, madness. One of my old watchmates had tattoos all down both arms visible in the summer uniform, because we can.

4? Does this include the brand on each arm?

I've got two. One on my ass and my Penguins one on the top of my shoulder.

"drunken asshole friends and socially acceptable rebel"

My sister is a tattoo artist now and she's been bugging me to have her give me another one. I'm still in the works about what I want, but Jay is right, if you need to ask someone where to put it and what to get, you shouldn't get one.

I had people be all like, dude why'd you get a sports team logo tattoo, and why'd you get it so big ? In the tattoo scene, sports team logos are lame apparently... I also get the ol' what if they move or go bankrupt question. Tattoos are supposed to represent you, have meaning for you, and what you love. If they don't, you'll be in the doc's office with a laser gun hammering away in no time.

But to ring off a few reasons why I got it and still love it...

A) I love ice hockey. Period.
B) I love the city of Pittsburgh
C) Some of my fondest memories are going to Pittsburgh Penguins games - Mario Lemieux gave me his jersey at one of my first Pens games when I was 11.
D) My brother was a huge Pens fan - it reminds me of him.
E) I don't care if they move or go bankrupt. My tattoo isn't supposed to be an up to date memorandum of the current team winning the Stanley Cup or anything.

I could go on, but the point is that it's special to me and has meaning behind it. If I had let others influence my choice it wouldn't be the same, and I wouldn't be happy with it.

Now my ass tattoo... ugh... DON'T GO TO A TATTOO SHOP DURING SENIOR WEEK!
