How The Mythbusters Accidentally Punched a Six-Inch Cannonball Hole in a Minivan (Updated)

The cannonball was supposed to blast through an array of water barrels and a cinderblock wall. Supposed to. Instead it hit the wall, a hill, a house, and Jasbir Gill's Toyota Sienna. Now do you see why they tell you not to try this at home?
The accident occurred Tuesday afternoon at an Alameda County Police bomb range adjacent to Santa Rita Jail, about a half mile outside of Dublin.

I remember reading somewhere (probably here actually) that when they blew up the cement truck the shockwave broke the glass of nearby homes.

When will their reign of terror stop?!

I think it just comes with the territory. I remember Adam Savage telling a story of how he was once driving a flatbed truck with a stripped airplane on it and people would drive along side the truck to look at it, wondering what was going on. But then they'd eventually see who was driving the truck, make an "Oh, I get it" face, and drive off. Apparently saying "It's for Mythbusters" makes people stop asking questions in San Fransico.

It's funny because it's true. That's a well-known expression around here. By the way, that bomb range (and the nearby town of Dublin) is about 10 minutes away from my current residence.

Hey guys, don't mess with Allen. You never know what he'll do. He's kind of a loose cannon that way.

Well, Mythbusters have always given me the biggest bang for my buck.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ME ON MY 1,001 POST.

...and I wasted it. Completely wasted it.

I think, though, that this stunt lacked pizzaz. They should have gone all out and given us both barrels. Perhaps they are trifling with us.

I'm confused. I don't know how to respond to PatrThom's post. It's almost as if it's missing something.

Why the fuck do you build next to an EXISTING BOMB RANGE?
It's complicated. We have a severe urban sprawl problem, and in the late 90's people were building houses in pretty much every open space they could see. That has led to numerous housing developments in places where people should not live.
