It started as a small idea. Enresshou wanted to have a couple people get together and let North Ranger know we were thinking about him. What happened was nothing short of amazing.

People started to post to Enresshou and then we started to donate. What started out as a small "Hey, we're thinking about you and hope this helps make your holiday brighter!" turned into something awesome.

I'm making this post because the gift has been delivered. I'm not saying exactly what it is yet for fear of it not being in HIS hands yet. But this is to North Ranger from Halforums.

No matter how hard it gets or how dark the world seems, there are people out there who are thinking about you, care for you, and wish they could have done more.

By the way, just as an aside as to how popular this conversation was...it had 29 participants and spanned over 9 pages of posts. Every time someone posted in it I got a warning from the server that a massive email blast was happening!

I'm still at the hospital, folks... last round of chemo before Christmas.

Then I got a call from dad sayin' I've gotten a frickin' 13-pound package from Amazon. Now, my first reaction is "Oh great, someone's tapped onto my account and ordered a shitload of furry porn in my name, How the hell am I gonna figure this out?"

So, naturally I told mom to open the package.

It took a little while to figure out what was in the package (Mom, bless her heart, barely speaks English), but as far as I figured out there's an Xbox 360 with Kinect AND Skyrim o.o I'm almost sure there's something more, too, 'cause mom doesn't understand much from computers or consoles either (she started reading me the EULA when we tried to figure over the phone what the heck this was :p ). I'll see tomorrow when I get out of the hospital.

Seriously, guys and gals... thank you. You're all bloody awesome, and you all damn well caught me off-guard.

Now I just need to figure out where to take you all for drinks...

As for your questions: XBox Live is the service that lets you play games/voice chat with other people online. Skyrim's a single-player game, but if you played something like Battlefield or a racing game, you could play with other people on the forum in real-time (hint hint).

It doesn't play Blu-Ray, unfortunately. You could probably find a cheap HD-DVD drive that Microsoft sold a few years ago that I think has a progressive scan built-in that'll upconvert all your standard DVDs you put into it.

Two things:

1) The 12 month XBox Live wasn't included with the original order; it'll be there in 7-10 days.
2) Check your Gmail!

Nothing there as of yet... But honestly, I'm still at the hospital so it'll take me a while to get all this figured out.
