With a few hours to spare, but I made it...

Damn, now I kind of wish I'd kept track of what I read this year. I can't remember for the life of me what I was reading before June.

Pretty cool, Calleja.

I'm trying to think how many I made it through this year. Not that many, I know.
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
The Zombie Autopsies
A Game of Thrones
A Clash of Kings
A Storm of Swords
A Feast for Crows
A Dance With Dragons
The Gunslinger
The Drawing of the Three
Zombies: The Recent Dead
The Name of the Wind
The Hobbit
The Fellowship of the Ring
The Two Towers
The Late Shift
The War for Late Night
15? I feel like I'm missing one though.

Books-wise, I've probably read about a dozen or a little more. That's sadly including school.

If we were including comics/graphic novels? Oh fuck...

Also, my New Years resolution is to keep track of books I've read for next year's list. :D

I recommends Goodreads for that. It's a bit of a pain having to update your progress by "hand", but it's well worth ti for the stats and eventual recommendations based on your book ratings.

I have read a few things, but not that many. I have to pick and choose what I buy now.

Welp, I signed up for GoodReads. Seems like Netflix as far as its rating and recommendations system, only without the free movies. Neat. I'm in.

I don't know if I could exclude myself from this or not. I had a british literature class this year, so I read a LOT of books. I guess that would count.

Though, I tell you I was super pumped when Lord of the Flies was listed as the last book of the semester. I love that novel.

Maybe "books" is code for 42 stewardesses and this is a coded cry for help.
So if "books" is 42 stewardesses, and he was taken by 42 books, that means Calleja was abducted by 1764 stewardesses.

What, was he kidnapped by the student body of the National Stewardess Academy?

I have never been with a stewardess, I'm afraid. I did hook up with a waitress in Cancun, though, does that count? You know how much hot waitresses in Cancun during tourist season get hit on?

Also.. fuck you all, I'm in a serious monogamous relationship with a real, actual woman. You can even see her if you're one of my FB friends. There's even, gulp, talk of moving in together in Mexico City.

Sticking to the thread's theme, though... My new Kindle touch comes with special offers, and one of them gave me an Audible version of Rob Lowe's autobiography, read by himself. I got hooked with it, the guy not only reads it, but he makes DEAD ON impressions of all the famous people he knows. The dude grew up with Emilio Estevez and Charle and Martin Sheen and pretty soon was friends with Downey Jr and Demi Moore and Jodie Foster and shit. It's a fun read..err, listen.

But I want an actual book book. I'm about to start either The Dark Tower series with The Gunslinger or the Hunger Games trilogy. What do you guys think?
Also, if anyone's interested in the 42 books I read:

That link should work.

I've only read the Gunslinger and the Drawing of the Three. The Gunslinger was okay, the Drawing of the Three got really weird, and from what I'm told, the series as a whole kind of lacks focus and just gets ridiculous towards the end. Personally, I wouldn't recommend even reading past the first.

I haven't read The Hunger Games yet because I haven't read it or its sequels, but I got through the first two books and one third of number three from the Dark Tower series, and it's exactly as checkeredhat says. Nothing really special, and you can really tell that the author had no idea where he was going or what he was doing. So I'd say if you're choosing between those, check out The Hunger Games because Dark Tower is frustrating. That said, you could still give it a shot, but people I know who love the Dark Tower series say that the second book is probably the best of it, and if you're not into it by the time you finish that one, you might as well stop.

Well done to you, sir! And thanks for the inspiration. I'm now on goodreads and spent 2 hours last night reading/compiling a list of things to read. What was your favorite read last year?
