[Movies] Talk about the last movie you saw 2: Electric Threadaloo

You know what horror series died the worst "long" death? Hellraiser. I keep hoping for a GOOD revamp.
They're doing a remake. Not sure how much Clive Barker's involved, if at all.

Good gods, the first Hellraiser is incredible. What a fantastic horror movie. I love listening to the haunting score. Hellraiser II is good too, though it kind of ruins the ambiguity of the Cenobites that's present in the first film.

Of the various 80's horror big names (Nightmare, Friday the 13th, etc) Hellraiser was the only one to really leave a lasting impression. Nightmare was pretty good, but every time Depp gets sucked into the bed I laugh at the ridiculous blood geyser and it kills the mood.

I'm pretty sure it was partially meant as a comedy.

It's honestly been a decade or more since I've seen the first Halloween. If I remember, maybe I'll watch it this Halloween. It's been awhile since I've seen most of the old stable of those movies.

Which is why Prisoner of Azkaban was the best book in the series, but the worst movie in the series.
...nooooooooooooo. That would be Movie six. Need I remind you of Dumbledore's suck-ass death scene? Or how they don't even explain the meaning of what the half-blood prince was?

I think Halloween 3 is a kind of weird, decent-enough movie. It was just kind of bizarre because Halloween 1 and 2 were the same story, then it veered way off. It also suffered from being not-John-Carpenter, but so does 99% of movies made

Hey Charlie, can you comment more like this? Not only was it free of the usual trolling-like snark, but you made it sound like an opinion rather than some god-given fact, AND backed it up. Please continue this. :)

I'm in the minority that dug it. I own it on Blu-Ray. That said, it's not by any means a "great" movie. It's fun, though.
Thank you! I know people who reeeeeeeeeeeeeally hate it. I'll admit it ain't no Citizen Kane but it ain't like it's the first Gamera movie! Which, let's face it was a shameless Godzilla rip-off with a terrible ending.

What's everyone's opinion on Cloverfield? I think it's a good stupid monster movie in my opinion.
Saw it in the theater and enjoyed it. I probably wouldn't if I went back and watched the DVD. The giant screen helped the atmosphere, and I like that the movie wasn't too serious.

[EDIT] Also want to add. WORST MONSTER DESIGN EVER!

Yeah, watching certain monster-films on the small screen just ain't the same. When I hit it big, I'm buying my own freakin' theater wit all the Godzilla prints I can find. Except for those two. You know what I'm talkin about.

The Greatest Movie Ever Sold
Mixed feelings about it as a documentary. It doesn't really have a point to it. I mean, it just kind of goes in a circle, confirming what we already know: there is too much advertising out there. Not much time is spent either celebrating or denouncing it in anyway. Maybe I'm just used to documentaries picking a side a little more. Definitely interesting, and very entertaining though, nonetheless.

Word Play
A friend suggested this documentary on crosswords and crossword competitions to me when we were discussing how great King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters is. Finally had a chance to check it out today, and it's... okay. Not nearly as good as that other quirky documentary, but good. And it got me strangely excited about crossword puzzles.

Clue

As good a board game to film adaptation as one could possibly hope for.

Bridesmaids
I avoided this film for a long time because it was described to me as "The Hangover for women". Finally saw it, and its nothing like The Hangover. I mean, it's actually funny, for one thing.

Grass
What a lazy documentary. Its just a timeline of the anti-marijuana laws, without going into any detail whatsoever. I couldn't finish it, it just made no effort to make itself remotely interesting, even with Woody Harrelson doing the narration.

What's wrong with the Hangover? I freakin' LOVED that movie.

I dunno, the fact that the entire thing is one, long unfunny joke, featuring great comedic actors mailing in performances as completely one dimensional characters just really bugged me. HATED that movie.

Meh, I still like. Know what I hate? Star-ship troopers. So friggin' stupid. Is it a satire against war, is it a satire for war-I DON'T FREAKIN' KNOW! The message was just so garbled by cgi and dumb acting that it make you feel empty.

Yeh dude. Starship Troppers, despite some kinda bad CGI, is great. Sure, there are plots that are dropped and picked up again rather suddenly but it still is fun as fuck, satire or no.

Just because you didn't understand the message doesn't mean it's "garbled"

Starship Troopers is a masterpiece

SEE! I am the only person who hates this movie!I'm sorry but I just couldn't enjoy it. Plus the scene where the southern guy's "helmet malfunctioned" when it was clearly just put on side-ways still irks me to this day. I can understand why people would like this film, but at least admit that scene was freaking stupid.

I liked the hangover. Maybe it's because I never really thought of any of them as particularly good actors anyway.

Tangled
Didn't see this in the theater 'cause I felt Disney just couldn't make a decent animated movie to save their goddamn lives. Saw this today... and was pleasantly surprised :)

I'm constantly surprised by the love Tangled gets. I didn't think it was bad, but I thought it was fairly off-the-shelf standard fare.
