That reminds me--apparently there's some racist clamor going on about non-whites being in The Hunger Games, even to the point of Twitter-attacking the young actress who played Rue... makes no sense. Especially since they pulled a race-bending on the main characters if you go by the descriptions of District 12 residents in the first book.

I watched The One last night.

It was cheesy but it held my attention pretty well. It is not hard to tell that The Matrix was huge at the time is was made but the fight scene where Jet Li was fighting himself held together pretty well. I'm a little miffed by the ending the 'good' Jet LI received because it leaves SO many questions in my mind.

Also, the ending for 'bad' Jet Li delivered the best line ever:

There was a movie called Ink on Netflix. It was obviously super low-budget, and the acting was very bad. All the same, I'm glad I watched it. The idea was interesting and had a touching ending. They seemed to kind of play fast and loose with what an Incubus is... either that or I need to look it up again.

Related note: One of my all time favorite "movies" is Dogsville. Which was basically a play on film but damn was it amazing.

Did anyone see that "Much ado about nothing" movie all the way through either? Keanu Reeves' terrible acting made me stop watching half way through.

You know what was a really good HollySpeare movie? Othello. They cast all the right people for that movie, especially the guy who played Iago. I've always loved Iago...just..just SO MANIPULATIVE!

Once, way back when, my mother and sister went to see a 'horror' movie (The Haunting, I think) and I decided to go see A Midsummers Night Dream. I made the better decision.

Edit: Scratch that. Mom died in 1998 and the midsummer came out in 1999. I guess I just went to Midsummer on my own. Like a loser. ^^;;;

Edit2: Wish I knew which movie I saw when mom and April went to The Haunting.

You know what is legitimately creepy as all hell? Friday the 13th part one. Mrs. Voorhees is ten times scarier than Jason would ever be.

No no I feel bad enough. I have a history of having to apologize for doing things that I didn't know were insulting so this isn't new to me. There is a 40 percent chance of me saying something unintentionally offensive to someone and then me feeling like an ass. Ces la vis.

TOPIC CHANGE: Did anyone see Ben 10: Destroy All Aliens? I....feel kind of cheated after watching it. It was funny and all but the plot seemed juvenile even for Ben 10 standards.

It has been many, many, many years since I saw a horror movie that was actually scary. This one actually creeped me out. As I said over in the rant thread, my brother and I had almost exactly this plot several years ago. It's from the makers of Paranormal Activity, and like those movies, it relies on very simple yet highly effective low budget tricks to pull of most of the scares. But my wife and I both got a chill when
the grandmother sees the demon's face just over the dad's shoulder
. Creepy. I recommend it for good, deep scare, and not just boring gore.

Was surprised at how much I loved Insidious. Fantastic little horror in a day and age that people forget what it's supposed to be about.

I will say this, Amazon Instant Watch just appeared on the PS3 and damn. Very nice. Still don't like paying 5 bucks to rent a digital movie but... nice.

Netflix binge:

It Might Get Loud: Jimmy Page, Jack White and The Edge all come together to talk about their history with the electric guitar. Interesting, if a little sloppily directed. Despite my U2 enthusiasm, Edge is not exactly the world's greatest guitarist, relying heavily on technology for his sound instead of raw talent. Jack White is kind of a douche too.

The Bounty Hunter: Throughout the entire movie, all I wanted was for Jennifer Aniston to get naked. Spoiler alert: it doesn't happen.

It's been so long since I watched this movie. I love it. I don't know if its legitimately a funny movie or if I should feel some sort of guilt for enjoying it. But I don't care. Jon Lovitz' character is the best part.

Wow, I just watched a MST3K from 1989 on Netflix. I'm not sure if this is very very early Comedy Central, or if it's Cable Access, but it has Dr. Forester and Larry as the Mads, a really old Cambot, and Servo with Larry doing the voice. It's, um, not great. They were apparently still adlibbing for this episode. I was reading the history of the show, and it's quite interesting. It seems like when Joel left the show, he said it was because he was uncomfortable acting. However in a more recent interview (2009 or so), he said that was a lie for the media. In truth he loved doing the show and hated leaving. But since he disagreed with producer/director and partner Mallon, he left to save the show from death.
