To be fair to Silverstone, it's not like she's saying that it's wrong not to do this, just that it's what she does. I really don't see anything anything more unhygenic about this than breast feeding. Weird, yes, but I don't really see the issue.

It's not like she's trying to get parents to deny children vaccines that could save their lives or anything....

To be fair though, when Dave was a kid he had to walk 5 miles barefoot in the snow uphill both ways while praying on the way in the hopes his mom had food in her mouth he could eat.

Hygiene-wise I'd think saliva in the mouth is much more unhygienic than a breast.

She is right that was the way it was done for a long time. I personally enjoy social and technological advancement but some people do not.

Yes spit napkin thing is gross too an breast milk is actually extremely good for development. It prevents certain cancers helps build their immune system and plays a role in how smart they become later in life
