ohhh I do have one. I fell in love with Cage the Elephant after I played Borderlands. At first I thought Cage the Elephant was some bullshit Jack White derivative garbage. But then "Ain't No Rest For the Wicked" is such an irresistable earworm. And then it dawned on me that they're basically the Pixies' next of kin. And now I love them.

"Ain't No Rest For the Wicked" caught my ear for it's sweet blues riff handed down from music generation to music generation. Also, they're fucking loony at live shows.

I randomly bought Matt & Kim's album Grand and wound up really liking the whole thing.

I don't know if I'd call it embarrassing, really, but I did buy Say Anything's About A Boy on a whim, having no idea what they sounded like or who they were. Ended up loving the album and the band, though I don't think anything they've done since is as good.

Still sounded to me like a cheap Jack White knockoff by a bunch of jerks to me at first. But like I said before, I have fully flip-flopped on Cage and now they're one of my favorite current bands (the excellent second album last summer pretty much confirmed it)

Yeah I remember always skipping that Borderlands intro after the first time because of that song. I'm going to listen to it again, however, see if maybe it just wasn't my thing at the time. I've had a few bands grow on me that I used to despise, the worst offense of that being Nirvana, actually.
