Legend of Korra

So, good episode this week.

What the hell is Amon?
I'm basically convinced he's one of two things:

1.) Something from the Spirit World. That would explain the bending stealing powers and his ability to resist blood bending (he may not have blood!).

2.) Something connected to the Avatar and it's powers. Aang showed that it was possible to resist Blood Bending by entering the Avatar State in that flashback. So maybe a past life is running amok right now, or hell... maybe Aang's back from the dead. It would explain why Amon keeps giving her chances to get away.

I really doubt any part of Aang's spirit could be as confrontational as Amon. Though, I think he could be the anti-avatar. The world is all about balance, maybe he is some kind of anti-avatar incarnation to rebalance the world.

If he's from the spirit world, my guess is that he got his face stolen.

Just saw the latest episode. So yeah, holy shit, this series just gets better and better. So much for my theory.

New theory: Amon is Naga. Think about it! Have you ever seen them in the same place at the same time? And who would know Korra better?!

This will all lead to a one-on-one showdown between Naga and motherfucking Pabu.

I'm gonna go and express my doubts about Amon being a spirit creature, at least in his entirety. When Taarlok(sp?) started bloodbending and knocked out Amon's Equalist cronies, Amon himself was visibly shaken as well. In other words, he had to fight against the bloodbending, meaning that he has blood. Therefore I'm still gonna say that he's at least physically human. Or at least that he has a flesh-and-blood body.

This is probably a stretch, but what if Tarlok is still Amon? Suppose Amon is literally his puppet and what we saw was just an act? It'd be a hell of a shock, but I'm not putting any money down on the possibility.

Then how did he pretend to be unconscious, literally not move /at all/ but still maintain the illusion of Amon moving? Even when the truckdoors were closed between him and Amon?

I like ya, Nick, but that's just silly.

Amon is Tenzin IMO.
I don't know...

He got stunned pretty hard during the attack on the Pro-Bending arena and he wouldn't have had enough time to change into Amon's armor/mask between then and the time when Amon showed up to take away the bending of the Wolfbats, let alone GET to the platform to do it. He'd also have had to have gotten back to the Arena, changed, and back to where Lin left him after escaping on the Airship and done it without getting caught.

Basically, I'm not sure how they are going to handle revealing Amon. The list of suspects has dwindled to nothing, leaving only people from the previous series and people we haven't officially met during the series, only heard about. If it's someone from the previous series, it can only be Zuko (who hasn't died yet), Aang (which would be a stretch) or Ko, and if it's someone we haven't met yet, it's a bit of a cop-out because it was a mystery we wouldn't have been able to solve on our own.

I really like this series, but there has been a distinct lack of answers regarding a lot of the plot elements.

Amon is Kanye.
"I'm glad for you, and I'mma let you finish, but Aang was the greatest avatar of all time." *shrugs*

I don't think it's really been a mystery we were meant to solve. They haven't made much of a big deal of the "Who's behind the mask?" question so far. He's made his claims back in "The Revelation" about who he is, how he got his powers, and that's about it. At this point, I expect any significance from if/when he is revealed to not come from a "GASP! He was X all along!" sort of thing, but from finding out what his actual goals and the source of his powers are.

Has anyone floated the idea that Amon isn't just taking people's bending away, he's absorbing them Highlander style?

Because right now he'd have all of the secondary bending skills (lightning, metal, and blood) PLUS the ability to remove bending completely. Technically you wouldn't need to be the avatar to posses all of those.

Which would make Tenzin, his kids, and Korra the last of the targets, as he'd need an airbender. He did mention he was saving Korra for last...

The thing with Zuko's mother is supposed to be answered in The Promise: Part 2, or so I'm told. The story is basically about how Republic City was formed, but it's answering a bunch of other questions too. We'll know Tuesday, at any rate.

Should be interesting to see what kinda of influence Ozai has over Zuko, now that he's advising him.

I'll say this much: probably the coolest moment of this series is Amon stepping through the blood-bended soldiers. Excited again over where the series is going to land.

Considering Korra can't even airbend yet and the kids are always on the island that makes sense...
