Legend of Korra

Did Korra really have to tell them that she heard Sato on the phone? Way to blow the investigation IMO. >.<

I'm really not sure how I feel about mecha-robots being introduced into this series.
I'm fine with the story taking a kind of "magic vs tech" angle this time around. Especially since the "magic" is bending, and the "tech" is very steampunk.

I'm also fine with tech being a thing but the taser gloves I thought was far enough. I don't wanna see Korra beat Amon in a fight only to have Amon come back at her in his fucking Gundam like something out of Megaman or Metal Gear.

I don't think you should worry about this happening. The mecha thingies seem to be a recent breakthrough, very hard to obtain (pure platinum and all) and in the end the climatic battles will always be martial arts/magic, I'm sure...

I think a lot of the problem while fighting those things is that Bei Fong couldn't earthbend during that fight. If she could have, the fight wouldn't have lasted more than a few seconds, as she could have literally made the earth swallow them up. If the entire fighting area hadn't been platnium, she could have used some of the metal to hold them off as well.

Really, the robots aren't that dangerous themselves. They just had every advantage during that fight.

"KORRA! IT'S NOT OVER YET, KORRA!"

They were bending the floor during the fight.

I figured that they had been trained with metal bending so much that it becomes more natural than normal earthbending. SO when the moment of panic arises they fall back onto what they know best which is metalbending.

That's...kind of really plausible actually. Nice thought.

I can't take full credit for that idea.

I was on Reddit discussing the episode earlier and that was one of the theories that crept up.

Korra was bending the floor, I don't think the metal benders were. But the theory is sound either way. :)

Ok, I've decided who I think the bad guy is.

Amon is Mako and Bolin's father. The stories and timeline match up, and when Amon was supposed to take Bolin's bending he paused. The fire bender that attacked him obviously messed up his face. He was probably a weak bender himself, but couldn't protect his family, even with his bending. He abandoned his kids when his wife died, almost having died himself in the attack. It would provide a huuuuge dramatic upheaval when it is revealed.
Interesting.

I had been working on a similar theory -- that Amon was the heretofore unmentioned brother of Mako and Bolin. The back stories were similar enough and, if I remember correctly, were revealed in the same episode.

Huh. I was just re-watching the scene with Aang spirit bending and I thought of something. He said "I took away your fire bending. You can't use it to threaten or hurt anyone ever again."

What if that's the theme of this series? Maybe the end of the bending world will be the end of bending? Suppose the villain has the ability to spirit bend? Or perhaps, for whatever reason, Korra realizes the dangers of bending and decides to spirit bend the world, preventing anyone from bending ever again? I highly, highly, highly doubt it'll go in that direction, but suppose that's how the series ends? It'd be a hell of a way to end it.
Holy shit, I forgot I wrote this.

Did I fucking call it or what?!

(Well, aside from Korra realizing the dangers of the bending. In retrospect, making it the villain makes more sense.)

Finally watched the last episode last night with the wife.

Firstly, man do things go quickly in this show. Secondly, beautify drawn. Lastly, it's a shame the Avatar feels like a true wimp.

Still enjoying it but I enjoyed the original series far more.
