Need some quick help (School)

I have a short assignment to do for my Teaching Elementary Mathematics course. We're supposed to write word/story problems to go along with a given equation.

In this case, it's 24 ÷ (4 +2). We're to put it in a measurement division story problem.

For example, our book has one that says "8 eggs are distributed 2 each to 4 plates." (8 ÷2 = 4)

Seems easy enough, but it's that (4+2) thing that's throwing me off.

Help?

Hurm. Got another one:

36 - (12+17) as a completion subtraction. Ex.: Sonda has saved $9. The CD she wants costs $16.

Parenthesis first word problem?

How about: Four kids are dividing up 24 trading cards. Two more friends come up and ask if they can have some too. How many kids are there in all now, and how many will they each get?

Everyone in class has 4 pieces of candy. If everyone is given two more pieces and the total amount of candy the classroom has is 24, how many students are in the class?

That first one's great, Seej, thanks. :) How about that second one?

Btw, this is why I hate math. :p

Ah ha. Think I got one. How about:

There are 36 seats to be filled on the bus. Right now, there are 12 boys and 17 girls. How many more students are needed to fill every seat?

OoO! Man, that can cause you no end of Hell if you're not careful.
There are times I wish there were rules for parenthesis in English for that.

We all jumped while the moon went down into the perfectly still lake.

I had to write so many of those damn things. Math block was surprisingly my favorite of all the edu. sections I went through. I was sure it would be children's lit.

I used to hate it. Now I enjoy it. Dad tells us it's the key to the universe. Haven't gotten there yet, but I'm glad I am better at it than I use to be.

I used to hate math, particularly arithmetic and geometry. However, I've always loved logic puzzles. Once I started treating every math problem like one big puzzle, I kind of fell in love with it.
