It's a sad day in the Internet Entertainment World...

I think what's really burning him about all of this is that this was because of a business decision, not because he hurt or offended someone. I honestly can't blame him. That door is likely still open for him though, but he's going to need to stop feeding off the negativity if he's ever going to get it back.

At the risk of snappy, I don't there's a time limit on 'getting over' someone/thing. There is a point where it becomes unhealthy, true (and he seems to have hit that wall)...but it can also just take a while depending on how deep the wound is.

I'm using myself as an example. I really do feel for him.

Hopefully, now that he has been diagnosed and is switching medications, he can begin recovery. Bipolar is a nasty bit of business.
I understand.

Snappy does not. :p

You're right, there's no by the book time limit, but I think the time he's spent being upset about this has gone on far too long and it's only doing him harm. I do hope he gets better. My wife has bipolar and does amazing with it, but she's had years to learn and there are still many hard days.

Anyway, I just watched the video and I didn't really see the end as that bad. It happened, he made use of it; it's not like he cursed anyone out.

Who is Spoony tight with anyway,on CA? I know one is Linkara.Brad Jones too?
I think it's mainly Linkara (because they've worked together so long and so often), Sage (because Spoony got him his start and he got all the FF8 footage for Spoony), and Brad Jones (because he hosted Brad for awhile and got him in touch with TGWTGs). Probably Doug too, but who knows now?

When Doug talked about the Alone in the Dark review he sounded very "all business" about Spoony and Linkara, like he didn't really know them that well, different from how Spoony talks about Linkara and Brad Jones and vice versa them talking about him. But that might just be how Doug talks about people he works with.

I stopped following considerably before he went "officially" nuclear. There was a time a few months prior that I saw him responding to even the most civilized of tweets with venom. Dude's either a prima donna asshole or has a lot of issues that he's ignoring. Or both. I recall hearing his health issues aren't getting better because he's ignoring doctor's advice.

...I have never played any Ultima games and thus my knowledge of them come exclusively from this series. Yet I was just as dumbstruck and outraged as Spoony was when Dupre came back to life. That along with stuff like the summoning Pyros thing makes it look like this game goes beyond not caring about continuity but actively going out of its way to piss off any old fans of the series. I had heard Ultima IX was a huge pile of shit for years but this series has truly made me understand the magnitude of its awfulness. Congrats to Spoony for an excellent retrospective and screw everyone responsible for this game.

Rise thread. So,Spoony is looking a lot better nowadays.
His new Vid is up,where he talks about the many kind of dice that are out there and in the end
he kinda gives away that he is bumping uglies with someone (most likely April).
His FF XIII was hilarious.

His relationship with April is no secret. He's been pretty open about them dating on his twitter feed for the past few months, if not exactly explicit.

They did some "Let's Eat" type video together months ago, and Spoony all but shouted that he had carnal knowledge of her.

Maybe I'm not in the club here, but why do we care about who some guy on the internet is sleeping with?
I only took note because of the way he treated her in the video. The things he said felt incredibly awkward to me, and none of the girls I've dated would have put up with me saying stuff like that to them in public. I assume she must feel differently, but it still was surprising to me. Franky I don't care who he sleeps with, but I will take note how how he behaves in videos he puts out publicly.

Because of the huge internet scandal that happened with his last GF and the effect it had on him and his website.
A thousand times this. Last time he had a girlfriend, she did a lot of scummy stuff under his nose, but when she left him he went into a serious depression and basically stopped doing his stuff for six months. We're not so much interested in that he's with someone (though good for him, he needs something good in his life), so much as we're worried about what he'll do if something similar happens.

Eh, you get that impression because you read his Twitter still and Spoony got so hung up on this. Never seemed like she did anything that bad. More importantly though, Spoony had problems before his ex left him. Heart condition, untreated bi-polar. He needed help and being with her was his distraction from it. It's because he was able to pull himself out of that shit and get the treatment he needed that he's doing his videos again. A healthy person doesn't destroy their career over relationship problems when that relationship has only been going on for a year. I'm not saying it's Spoony's fault he has these problems, but the whole "she broke Spoony" thing that his fans had been doing back then came off as juvenile and kind of Tommy Wiseau.

Ugh, the latest drama isn't Spoony related, but is definitely indicative of why this stuff keeps being made public: because every blow-up gets plastered across the TGWTG Twitter-sphere before anything even has a chance to be dealt with privately. I may have to unfollow more of them if this keeps up. Seriously, I don't want to know unverified gossip about who said what about whom. In this case, it was a troll pretending to be someone connected to recent drama who said some nasty things in an IRC chatroom, which caused a blow-up on Twitter before it came to light it was just a troll. Seriously people, this is why gossip is a bad thing. It doesn't matter if the person the troll was imitating has done other assholish things, check your facts!

Wait, I haven't been on twitter...what is happening?
Well, recently Nash's father died. I think he was livestreaming to deal with the stress, I'm not sure. Someone trolled his IRC and said that he hoped Nash's father was in hell with Elizabeth Sladen. Really juvenile comment, and other producers started tweeting about the comment before checking to see if the person on IRC was who he said he was. This is apparently connected to other drama, and... I don't see any reason why this shouldn't be kept private. Yeah, sometimes people need to be called out publicly for their shit, but not when a false accusation is the last straw, and not without any clarification. If it's bad enough that it can't be dealt with privately, then it shouldn't be told in snippets of gossip.

Twitter, Facebook, and plenty of other modern day communication thingies are continuously abused to overcommunicate, thus eliminating reflection and cool-down. Better communication can be a good thing in avoiding conflict due to miscommunication, but "more" communication isn't the same as "better" communication.

This is nothing new, and it's very apparent if you watch younger people (of a certain type) at work or as organisers in a group. NOT communicating is often a good idea; especially if you feel you're allowed to throw out any random thought but treat everything someone else yells into the void as the end result of a long-drawn-out thought process Also, because it means you have to stick to your decisions/compromises, not backpedal every five minutes.

Twitter is often very useful and I do actually read the feeds of a few people who sometimes post interesting tidbits. As a way of actual communication it's horrible.
