I don't know about YOU, but if it was "overtime, but you only get to keep 5% of it" versus "go home and see my wife, have fun, etc" overtime would not be a thing for me.

You posit that it is INCOME that is taxed. I axed part of your comment here, but we at least agree that there are alternatives NOT based around the idea of discouraging people to earn more money. Discouraging people to spend more? Who knows, but remember, Income Tax is a 20th century concept...

Space stuff (NASA, UKSA, CSA, ESA, etc)

Another write-up I read mentioned how 2/3 of the boosters on that thing are "flight-tested". So actually even if this blows up, it won't "cost" them much, as a good amount of it is "paid for" already. At least that's one way of looking at it.

New System Guide out from The Tech Report, Winter 2017 Edition. I always find these useful, even if I'm not shopping at the time. It's not bad to have a running "this is the current state of things" reference, and this has been consistently good for that for years now.

Did you not see that the bottom axis was installed "solar + wind" per capita, and the correlation between it and energy prices in said countries? I'm not meaning this disparagingly, actually wondering if you simply missed it. That stuff rolls off most times, but I appreciate the apology. I...

When you support huge subsidies to so-called "green" energy (hint: look into how the components are manufactured, usually in countries with little/no environmental protection), and are in-hand with that are part of the "Keepit in the Ground" movements that want to kill all kinds of fossil-fuel...

That's a reason not to tax people enough so they can't afford food, shelter, energy, not that it's OK to tax people who earn a lot way MORE than those who earn less. Oh wait, most on the left believe it's OK to skyrocket energy prices (logical consequence of most renewable initiatives), so...

@PatrThom I don't need a basic lesson in cost of living. But you are saying it's justified to compell me to "give" the government more of a percentage of my income than yours. This isn't about the value of charity (which I choose to give to) it's about the justification of saying to a group...

This whole thing of "they don't need it, tax it out of them" is premised on the idea that "The Government" will spend the money responsibly. Think about that for a minute. Also, why does the government have a right to a greater percentage of my income than yours? Because somebody else...

Patrick, I'm reading this as "as long as someone who is 'rich' is 'comfortable' they should get no tax breaks ever until everybody less wealthy than them has 'needs' the government 'needs' that money for more than the 'rich' person." That seems rather extreme.

Whine like a baby, now with 500% more drama!

Getting your bank bill is a HELL of a lot different than voting. All parcel service of the federal "post offices" can be replicated by private companies. Virtually all lettermail can be replicated by email. You do not need the massive structures that exist for the edge cases (like as I...

Whine like a baby, now with 500% more drama!

USPS and many other national postal services (Canada Post in my case) only need to exist as so far as to assign addresses to postal codes (zip codes in your cases) and to make sure they don't intersect badly. But beyond that, parcels are HANDLED by private companies. Not needed. And virtually...
