I'm working my way through William Gibson's Count Zero and... Man, there's something about Gibson's writing that just causes it to not penetrate. It sorta glides on my awareness and I just almost instantly forget it. It's SO weird. Had the same issue with Neuromancer.

Renting an appartment definitely has perks. You just need a single point of contact for any issue and outside of basic cleaning, nothing's your responsibility. But man, our house is awesome with a gigantic yard in a quiet part of town. AND I have my wife here. I think I'm gonna stay. :D

Update to this: Because apparently miracles can happen, I’m currently sitting on a train to Quebec City to see my family for New Year’s. My wife will join us on the 30th. And I might be crying a bit. :D

Yeah, in our case the main problem is that we'd be taking public transit to get to Quebec City (roughly six hours via train) and then using cabs to get around once in said city. Winter weather in Canada isn't ideal for driving, y'see. My parents are old, my grandma's older still and my mom's...

*Sigh* It's looking increasingly (currently at around 98%) likely that this New Year's gonna be virtual again. Even if we can actually get together, I'm not sure I'd want to. Too many vulnerable people and risk vectors to be comfortable.
