It's case severity driving policy decisions. We don't, from my knowledge, lockdown countries because of Influenza A or B, or Norovirus, so the attitude is why would we do it for omicron? I have to say that I agree with this reasoning, particularly because we have a fairly effective vaccine...

Whine like a baby, now with 500% more drama!

You'll never notice a humble doctor but you can't help but notice an egotistical one. It's not necessarily the job, it's our core expectation and we like the validation.

Working in healthcare, I can say that this is categorically untrue outside their scope of training. (My wife is a great nurse, don't get me wrong.) And from my own current experience in Master's level courses, in a communication program no less, there's a real deficit in how to communicate...

Whine like a baby, now with 500% more drama!

There's an organizational culture shift that we're right in the middle of where some segments (older generations in particular) believe that a form is used to hide behind and it lacks the accountability inherent to a face-to-face interaction so they're reluctant to use them for their intended...

    Minor victory thread

Courts have ruled that recipes are not copyrightable for many many years, going back as far as 1996 to say that under the Copyright Law, nothing in a recipe could be found to be creative/expressive enough to justify it. And then in 1998 when it explicitly said recipes are not copyrightable -...

My mental health has taken a *BEATING* the past two weeks. I've varied from depression, anger, anxiety, overwhelming sadness, it'd be funny if it wasn't so sad at the same time. I know the triggers - I am well-past overloaded, full time school, full time work, full time volunteer, my kids are...

[Movies] Talk about the last movie you saw 2: Electric Threadaloo

Holy hell was The Batman long though. Like I got my money's worth for sure, but there are certain segments I feel that made for a very overstuffed movie. Some of the third act could have and probably would have been a good addition to a sequel.

Add me to the list, I guess (divorce thread)

I remember the day I got my divorce papers stamped. It was a sad and good day - very confusing. We had been separated for the year and in different provinces so it wasn't even a connection thing, and we had both clearly moved on. It was simply the culmination of the end, and a good point to...

If it had a massive impact on overall Marvel lore and introduced some new concepts or conceits into the universe that explained/drove forward the overall story arch, perhaps. As it was, I think there's too much overlap with the much more popular X-men for this movie to work as a character study...

"Bad Moon Rising" takes this from a B+ trailer to an A. It's simply hilarious in it's terribleness, and these movies are my jam, baby.

For both my first and second shots, side effects were terrible. I was surprised at how mild the booster was. But I'm also in the trifecta of AZ/Moderna/Pfizer so it's possible Pfizer was always mild.

Re: Matrix Resurrections The former movies are a high bar to meet, truth be told. But this movie doesn't get off the ground. The acting is the high point. The rest? The lack of Bill Pope, and Yuen-Woo Ping is comically noticeable. It is shot poorly, edited even worse, sound design is...

God-awful. That was SyFy levels of poor writing, FX and cinematography. Like why!! Why ruin one of the hallmark franchises of the 90s with this embarrassment?
