Catholic hospital argues fetuses aren't people

Exactly. Moreover, the beliefs of the people involved are irrelevant in the court, unless they are also held by the law. Which is good, otherwise people who murder abortion doctors could argue they were defending another person.

[TV] Talk about the last TV you watched, the catchall thread

So by "entirely untrue", you mean he pretty much nailed it? Because I'm not seeing much difference between the two accounts. There's a slight difference in that Necronic's explanation makes it sounds like wrapping things up at the end of season 5 was made later than right at the beginning, but...

At least part of that, the FBI already does.

    The Wedding Challenge

So let me get this straight, after complaining about being single in thread or two and creating a new thread challenging himself to get a date, it takes all of a couple of days for Gusto to get one. ...Dang, I'm jealous. Why ya got to make look so easy Gusto?

    Hiya.

On the other hand, Babylon 5 isn't Star Wars, and if it isn't science fiction, I don't think most Trek should count either.

[TV] Talk about the last TV you watched, the catchall thread

Like others have said, it's a good show, especially for Campbell. I think it's lost a bit of it's charm in the past couple of seasons as it's become a bit more serious, but I still find it worth watching.

    [Movies] Pacific Rim

I wasn't really directing it at you, was mainly just using your post as a jumping off point.

Whine like a baby, now with 500% more drama!

I know it shocked me.

    [Movies] Pacific Rim

Del Toro could be the one responsible for it, with an irrational, unwavering desire for the lead pilot of an American war machine to be American. Totally seems comparable to wanting to insert a "Giant Fucking Spider" in a superman movie. Crazy idea to hire an actor to play a defined character...

    [Movies] Pacific Rim

Except that unless a character detail was just choosen at random, there's often a reason for that character detail, which the director may not want to change. I'm not sure why you're so against the idea that a character may be intended to be from a certain country (or similarly be a certain race...

    [Movies] Pacific Rim

He's playing one of the two pilots of the specifically American (as opposed to the Russian, Japanese, or Chinese) super robot. The character was likely written to be an American, especially since, like I said, they don't have any problem with Idris Elba keeping his British accent. Being one of...

    [Movies] Pacific Rim

He's also, y'know, playing a alien Norse god. Meanwhile, especially since Idris Elba isn't using an American accent in the trailer, I assume that Charlie Hunnam's character is supposed to be American, where a British accent doesn't make a lot of sense. Anyway, I've never had a problem with...

[Comics] Amazing Spider-Man comic ends, Marvel drinks SM fan tears. [Spoilers]

Probably true. Non-serious characters can still be worth reading, of course (see also: Deadpool).

[Comics] Amazing Spider-Man comic ends, Marvel drinks SM fan tears. [Spoilers]

Yay ambiquity. Honestly, I like squirrel girl enough as a character (I like her little post-civil war talk with Penance), but taking her off-screen/writer fiat fights seriously is silly.

[Movies] Talk about the last movie you saw 2: Electric Threadaloo

You mean other than explaining the bond between Howl and Calcifer? As well as forming a temporal loop that starts up at least some of this as Howl seeks out Sophie because she called for him to?

[Movies] Talk about the last movie you saw 2: Electric Threadaloo

Since there's a lot of stuff there Yoshi, I'll just restrict myself to a couple of points. I think you're focused too specifically on the Iraq War, Miyazaki did say that it impacted his work, but that doesn't mean he's just going to set the Iraq war in a fantasy world. It is most definitely an...

    [Webcomic] PVP Discussion

It would be if Kurtz was killing off his long running main characters to reboot the strip with minor, background characters, which is what he publicly lambasted Buckley about.

Which is why he can turn himself into a crow. Did he only use magic involving fire in the book? From the wiki page, it doesn't sound like it, so what's your problem with him using magic not involving fire in the movie? Immediate off-the-cuff guess, time. We had a full length movie without...

    What are you playing?

Playing Orcs Must Die after picking it up on sale on Steam. It needs a battle recorder that you can watch afterwards. I'm barely in Act 2 and there's already plenty of times I've had to focus my automated defenses on one front while personally watching the other, thus missing seeing my defenses...
