Zappit's Kidney Thread Part 3: New Kidney, Who Piss?

Saw my doctor again yesterday and got some new lab results. They were good: calcium, phosphorous, PTH, etc have all moved to ”normal.” My hemoglobin is nearly there. The dialysis analysis that measures how well things are actually working was good. She did increase my dialysis load to 2 liters...

    Zap’s Miscellaneous 2.0

I‘m kind of on a hiatus. I started Huzzah! right when I started getting really sick, and now that I‘m finally starting to feel better, I just don’t have a lot of motivation to get right back to it. I guess I’m just associating it with those difficulties, and I’m still working to get over that. I...

Zappit's Kidney Thread Part 3: New Kidney, Who Piss?

Update - GOOD NEWS FOR A FUCKING CHANGE - My latest blood work shows that the toxins in my blood have dropped - some by as much as one third. I’ve gone from “extremely sick” to just “really very sick”. Im still not using the automatic cycler for my dialysis, since I’m still feeling some “drain...

Zappit's Kidney Thread Part 3: New Kidney, Who Piss?

Haven’t updated for a while now, but it’s been a rough week. I started dialysis Wednesday. I spent Monday dealing with violent digestive issues that we found out were related to too many toxins in the bloodstream. My creatinine was almost 15, which is...”how are you still standing ?” territory...

Zappit's Kidney Thread Part 3: New Kidney, Who Piss?

Going to be a loooong week. I’ve got a few pre-op appointments before getting the catheter installed on Wednesday. I had my consultation, so here’s the basics of what they’re going to do: The catheter will be inserted into my abdomen and the tubing will be threaded (with the assistance of...

Zappit's Kidney Thread Part 3: New Kidney, Who Piss?

Update: Not me this time. My mother had a lumpectomy about a week ago. We got the results today. Her margins are good and she appears cancer free. She’ll have to do radiation therapy and be on a drug to prevent the cancer from returning for five years, but the cancer is GONE. We got lucky.

    [Gaming] Tragic the Garnering

Secret Lairs already aren’t worth it, so why not make it prohibitively more expensive for virtually no benefit whatsoever? WotC sent out a survey. I filled it out to let them know there was no way I’d buy SLs under a membership plan.

Zappit's Kidney Thread Part 3: New Kidney, Who Piss?

Things just keep getting better. My family has been going through the tests for compatibility, and it turns out my mom has breast cancer. Fuck. On the bright side, it looks like it’s localized and can be removed surgically. She might not need to get chemo or radiation therapy. It appears to be...
