I've seen each prequel once, on opening night. That was enough, thanks.
I saw the original trilogy in its unaltered version only once too, back in 1987 with the release of Jedi. I went and watched the special edition in 1997 just because it was Star wars and I was young and curious. I liked...
Star Wars for me, just like so many others because of Han Solo. And the coolest of cool fighters, the X-Wing!
Gandalf confronting th Balrog or the Witch King ist great, but in my world those scenes gets beaten by Yoda lifting an X-Wing out of the swamp.
If he would do this movie today it would be just one more SFX-crapfest among many and I wouldn't watch it. A Star wars movie of today would just not be what the Star wars movie from 1977 was back then.
Like it was siad earlier in this one or in another thread: the prequels were badly done...
Oh my gosh, one of my most favourite quote is from this jewel of a film (I rate it side by side with Ghostbusters).
"Yeah, they're hicks, Rita!"
Mostly used when talking about my girlfriend's family and their habits :)
I've learned the use of Dago for spaniards from Blackadder (second season) as well as from Richard Sharpe (books & TV). Two credible sources in my world. ;)
I never heard it for italians.
It's a long time since I did anything nerdy technical in Star Wars but I'm pretty sure my old source books mention particle shielding as well as energy shielding, protection against asteroids and torpedoes on one hand and another set of projectors to shield against laser and blaster shots.
I read they drive close to the island so tourists can have a good look at the scenery and do a trip later onto bring money to the inhabitants. Mr ubercaptain just took the ship even closer to impress some friends or such he has on the island. Of course that's just one more rumor, but it really...
The only audiobook I own and ever listened to is Tolkien's 'Children of Hurin'.
I just had to have it because it's read by none other than Sir Christopher Lee.
