Big win for the Canes against the Flyers last night. 2nd win in as many days after some absolutely miserable losses. Was checking out the PenguinsNHL web site and found this gem lying around.

Not used to seeing Hurricane players up there.

"Well, all day long I hear how great Sidney is at this or how wonderful Sidney did that! Sidney, Sidney, SIDNEY!"

So are the Leafs just goint to win 7-1. lose a game, then win 7-1, lose a game, then win 7-1, etc? Going to have to get a streak going in order to stay in Playoff contention.
Lupul now tied for second in the league for points.
Meanwhile, holy crap Boston's really climbed back up.

No hockey tonight for your crazy American Thanksgiving. So starved for hockey to report on , aside from the usual reports about practice and guesses to when Reimer will be back, The Star has actually taken to reporting on the Maple Leafs going to watch an NFL game.

The hell... Habs play in Phily at 3. Shafted by a badly placed American holiday during in the middle of a work day.

Reminds me of a month ago when the Hurricanes got stuck playing a Monday afternoon game against the Devils just because Canadian's don't know when turkey day is.

Neither team in your example is Canadian you dumbass. Go ride your American fagpole elsewhere.

I don't get how an example of two American teams's getting a bad schedule because of a Canadian holiday is unrelated to a Canadian team getting a bad schedule due to an American one. Covar's example was indeed relevant as I saw it. But I don't get why the schedules would have been adjusted in that way, anyway. If anything, there should have been no games on Canadian Thanksgiving, just as the entire league shut down for the American Thanksgiving yesterday. 'Specially since like 60% the league are Canadians anyway.

That was intense. I can breathe again now, after holding my breath for the last half of the third period, the OT period, and the shootout.

Uhm, hello? There ARE 29 other teams in the NHL, LeafLover67.
And thankfully the surplus revenue generated by the Leafs pays for those teams shortcomings. (Well to be fair, it only pays for 15 teams, the other 14 are somewhat profitable.)

I can't say how much I hate PK Subban. All the fucker does is slewfoot everyone ALL THE TIME! He did it tonight to Pascal Dupius. He did it to the Rangers not too long ago. He took runs at people all day yesterday in Philly.

He's got skills, but yeah I can't stand him. Cheap shots like that, diving, and trash talking but refusing to back any of it up when the bigger players come after him...

Ah, nothing better than the Penguins being the Habs.

Except the Penguins beating the Habs on a total garbage goal because the ref didn't see the puck covered up by Price. To be fair, they teach you to keep your full weight on the puck once you glove it in like... peewee hockey. Price was all like, "ok ref, I fondled the puck, blow the whistle."

Take off your rose-color tinted glasses people.

His job isn't to drop the gloves against the big boys. His job is play sound defensively, to be able to provide good outlet passes and to contribute offensively when he can. He's currently in his sophromore season, he's adapting in his new role as 3 of Montreal's top 6 defensemen are injured (until Gill came back this week, we only had 2 NHL defensement out of 6). He's eating a lot of minutes 30+ a game and doing very well. If he's able to get under the skin of other players and give them a hard time and have them hate him, all the better.

If you can't appreciate him for all he can bring, I'll only assume you got Subbang envy.

As far as this game goes, GG Refs on allowing the Pens on that winning goal. How long does a goalie need to have his hand over the puck before the whistle goes?

The answer is simple, a long time, so that the Crosby show can go on. Crosby gets shoved a bit, a penalty. Why? Can't touch poster boy. Meanwhile, Subban gets hauled down from behind. NOPE, no call. Moen gets tripped from behind a minute before Stall scores his goal? NOPE.

Letang gets crushed by Max Pac. Max Pac will get 3 games for it. Mr. Dangles came in, sees a player come towards him, thinks he won't him him, lowers head and takes a shot, BANG. Think again.

Maybe Price should sit next time on it to appease the homer Pen fans who think otherwise. God knows Fleury does as he flops around everywhere trying to get interference calls all night.

GJ on the "winning goal". LOL

Off to the next game, where the Refs won't try to appease the Crosby show and do their jobs right.

sooooooo stomping on and tripping people with your skate is sound defensive play now?

And yeah, Price should have dumped his entire weight on the puck as soon as he knew it was under his glove. I was taught that playing PeeWee.

Kunitz had two goals taken away from the reffing in this game. Talk about rose tinted glasses...

it was actually called the same both ways.

He does do a good job playing sound defense. like I said, he's a good player. Its his attitude I don't like. He also does a great job of performing illegal hits and not getting called on it.

Don't be a homer. Both of his goals were taken away for good reason and it's not even debatable.

If you punch a puck into the net in a forward motion it is considered the same thing as kicking the puck in. If you run into the goaltender and push him and the puck in the net while you're on a breakaway, it's interference.

When a goalie puts his glove over the puck, the Ref's job is to whistle, you don't stand in the corner and look pretty while the seconds go by and allow the other team to poke, jab and chop at the goalie to get the puck.

Nonetheless, I'm done with this thread for tonight, responding to homers from other teams is never going to lead to anything. I'm just pleased I wasn't called a frog yet.

haha, Habs fans are such sore losers...

I enjoy Pens victories over Montreal almost as much as over the Flyers and Capitals.

And I'm not saying it wasn't a garbage goal. It totally was, but that game went both ways. That second goal was the officials call. We got away with a win this game. muhahhahahahaahaha

Meh. Everybody sees the game through rose-tinted glasses favouring their team. Having watched most of the playoffs for the past few years with no real investment in either team, I have to say more often than not the reffing is either fair, or equally bad for both teams. Not to say it doesn't happen that they're favouring one team over another. It definitely does, but I don't think its as common practice as the fans think it is.
I can't remember if it was the Pittsburgh/ Montreal game or the Boston/ Winnipeg game tonight (I flipped between the two, for the first two periods) whereI saw a discounted goal, but it was CLEARLY 3-4 seconds after the ref had blown the whistle, yet the home team stands still booed the call. Rose tinted glasses indeed.

Y'know, so am I. I don't see the point in name calling, especially bigoted slurs, over hockey fandom. I get the arguing and good natured ribbing, and accept the very clearly lopsided view all sports fans have in regards to their own teams' players, but I accept it all as just that: hockey fandom. I'd like to think that at the end of the day, someone liking Sidney Crosby, Joffrey Lupul or PK Subban more than the other two is not a real point of contention between those two people.

I can't believe we play like such garbage against the Blue Jackets, but obliterate the Capitals like that the very next day. This team makes no sense.
