Understand that the BCS was built to determine a One Versus Two matchup at season's end. That's all. It was never intended to be used for any other purpose.

...and just like that, we have chaos forming in the BCS Standings.

Houston is going to scream the loudest about being in the title game.

The BCS is looking at disconnecting themselves from the bowls after the end of this contract and focus strictly on a 1 v. 2 matchup.

So will that allow the Cotton Bowl to ever reclaim it's place as one of the top tier bowls? What conference would you attach to it now?

Now we just need Arkansas to beat LSU and everyone will scream about everything.

My I-AA school is headed to the playoffs as a ranked team, YAY me.
Not only ranked, but ranked #1. So I have a chance to watch them in the playoffs for the first time. Also as long as they win they will have home games, until the championship. The championship will be held just outside Dallas.

A 3-loss Big East team will get a BCS berth. It is possible, but not plausible, for a 6-loss UCLA team to get the PAC-12 BCS slot over a 1-loss Stanford.

I'm not sure where I'm going with this, but that scenario is horseshit.

What is certain is this: if LSU doesn't totally screw up against Georgia, they are going to playing Alabama in the BCS National Championship Game.

And, if LSU loses in overtime or on the last play of the game, it's STILL likely that they'll be playing 'Bama in New Orleans, because it's highly unlikely they will drop low enough in the polls to fall out of the game. Especially if Oklahoma State wins over OU in their Big 12 finale.

The only way the Tigers could end up not playing on January 9 is if they tank big-time against Georgia, and Oklahoma State runs roughshod over Oklahoma.

Barring some funky number crunching (and a couple of unresolved lawsuits), WVU is headed to a BCS bowl. Orange or Sugar most likely.

Well, we won't be hearing any shouting coming from Houston anymore.

Meanwhile, Baylor is giving Texas a beatdown.

Neither happened.
LSU-Bama for the crystal football.

BTW, the announcers on Fox for the Big Ten Championship are deserving more of broadcasting the Indiana State High School Football Championships instead.

We live in a world where Eric Mangini is considered by ESPN to be knowledgeable about football, and you're shocked that National announcers don't know what they're talking about?

I honestly can see the case for either OSU or Alabama going to the title game and will not be upset over either team going. But what this debate should once again reinforce is the problem of no playoff system in college football.

The following list illustrates why:

1969 Kansas City Chiefs
1980 Oakland Raiders
1997 Denver Broncos
2000 Baltimore Ravens
2005 Pittsburgh Steelers
2007 New York Giants
2010 Green Bay Packers

All of these teams did not win their division, but wound up winning the Superbowl. Everyone is fine with that because it happened in the playoffs.

That happening in the BCS is stupid because two teams are simply picked by computers to play. There is no compelling reason why there should not be a playoff system in place of the BCS. We all know it is simply due to greed on a few people's part that is holding it back.

Well, the BCS did it again. I agree LSU should be in the NCG, but it just doesn't make sense for Alabama to get another shot. If it was fair, Okstate and Alabama would get a playoff game to see who gets to go to the NC. Oh well. It was an interesting season for sure. Lots of great games and upsets.

Dear Nebraska,
Welcome to the Big Ten. Here's your complimentary floormat.
Sincerely,
Bret Bielema
P.S. - You're not in the Big XII anymore.
They got pushed around in the Big XII too. It's not the 80s anymore!

I said it earlier in this thread: the purpose of the BCS is to determine who the number one and number two teams in the country are. NOT to determine who should or should not be in a four-team playoff for the title.

We went years without something like this. What we got is what was wanted. If you want a playoff, you may have to wait years to get it.

Todd Graham had done his mentor, Rich Rod, proud. He has bolted Pitt for Arizona State.

Now while I am no fan of Pitt by any means, something smells. In his presser, Graham said he HAD to leave Pitt. Ok, WHY? What is going on that we don't know about yet? What other shoe is about to drop? Why did you have to leave so fast it took a text message from an assistant for the players to find out you were gone?

No one wants to coach a college football program in PA nowadays, it appears.

Oh, and *yawn* Whitewater and Mount Union for the Stagg Bowl title on Saturday. Film at 11.

You know what? Our athletic director should wise up and just schedule them for a regular-season game at Perkins Stadium. That way one of us will go into the championship that year with a one-loss season.

Yeah, I know. I think what has happened is that MTU and UWW get the "leftovers" from our Division I-BCS brethren in our respective states. As a result, we have guys like Justin Beaver and Levell Coppage - who realistically could play at a D-I school, though not the Big Ten - while guys like Jeremy Murray could be playing for teams like Pitt and WVU and others in the Big East.

It's unlikely that either team are going to be moving up to another division anytime soon, barring NCAA legislation. Whitewater still isn't that big of a school; nor is Mount Union.

WARHAWKS! WE'RE THE WARHAWKS!
Shouting out our battle cry
So beat the drums and let the trumpets blow
On to victory, Go! Go!
WARHAWKS! We're the WARHAWKS!
Proud to bear that name
So take the ball and let's GO WHITEWATER
WIN THIS GAME!

Honestly, I think thats a dumb idea. While the methods of determining the two best teams in the country are crappy, voting LSU number one would be like saying "well the Giants may have won the super bowl, but New England beat them in the regular season so they're better."
