Watching the Preds Lightning right now, and during the power play, when ever you got the puck a thought bubble appears over the player with their name? This is bizzaro world!

Barf, read an article about tax implications and the salary cap. Teams with low tax rates in their states/provinces/country win the cup about 80% of the time. Since it was a Canadian article, they explained that there is little hope for any Canadian team to ever win the cup. Winning the cup requires depth, and depth is easily aquired when your star players can be paid less but take home more after taxes, freeing up cap space.

Hard to justify a "Canadian teams have no hope" when Edmonton just went to game 7 of the finals?
Tax law is definitely an advantage, but Canadian media definitely loves to overstate it.
The ruling on John Tavares' signing bonus could have far-reaching implications for future pros contemplating a deal with a Canadian team.

Is the article, lots of tax talk, I suggest drinking before reading.

@blotsfan , man I didn’t realize how young the Sabres are this year. They talked about it in the first period while I was watching the Stars broadcast. Looks like you’re building a good core for the next few years.
