I hate being "that guy" but I'd appreciate it if we collectively didn't have to post every single death that happens no matter how minor of note these people are on these Forums. It's not a reproach to you jawhouk but in general. Shit, there's a thread every few days and most of these people... well... who cares?
It's just depressing to read.

I actually already thought she was dead. I mean, I thought she was really old when the show was on.
As to making threads, just don't read the ones marked "Brazelton".

To be honest, I feel the same way as Jay. I feel like there are a whole lot more Brazeltons than, I dunno, a year ago? And about 95% of the time I don't even know who they were / don't even care after learning who they were.
As for ignoring them, that's fine and all if there was just one Brazelton thread to ignore. But every new one attracts attention. It would be like me posting the deaths of all the Dutch (semi-)celebrities, sure you can just ignore them, but it's still annoying to see them pop up all the time.

Sad feelings, will be missed and everything.
Though I'm too young to have watched the Brady Bunch, not even sure it was running in Germany.
I don't think it wrong to remind us about people we adored a long time ago, but couldn't we just put a proper name in the thread title.
Alice is dead. So, Alice Cooper? Alice Munro? Alice Schwarzer?
Curiosity can be really bad at times.
I could have posted Karlheinz Böhm for all he did in Ethiopia after some really cheesy movies in post war germany.
So, nothing wrong with Brazeltons, but clearly labeled might be nice (thoughsomeof those titles were actually lovely and/or nicely clever).
And perhaps this discussion should be moved, please.

If anything, I think we're just demonstrating the stratification of our user base (by age). Those people born after 1979 probably don't care about Ann/Alice, but those born before will be sorry to see her go.

I was born in 1971. I'm in the anti-Brazelton camp. I admit I was upset when Jacques Cousteau died and shed real tears, but I was inspired by him and was honestly sad that the world lost such an innovator in science. I don't necessarily view entertainers in the same way. It's unfortunate they die and maybe even disconcerting since it also means we're facing our own mortality. I just don't see the point in making a post for every famous person who kicks the bucket. No one lives forever.
My thing with Brazelton threads: stop trying to be clever with the title. Stop using character names, stop using catch phrases, stop using references to obscure shit that nobody cares about, stop the turns of phrase. At the very least put the person's name in the title so we can know who died and not have to puzzle it out or come in and read if we don't want to. If this was really about respect for the dead, the title could at least acknowledge who they were.
I'm not specifically targeting this thread; there have been others and it's annoying.
I don't have a problem ignoring the threads as they happen. While as time goes on I at least know who more of the dying celebrities are, the last ones to actually upset me were two people who inspired me as a child and who most people didn't give a shit about, so it doesn't bother me to see the names of people who don't matter to me for the most part, and if it was someone who I cared about, I would probably be making the thread or participating in it. It's give and take; a celebrity one person doesn't care about and doesn't care to know of their death might be a big deal to another poster. There's no way to assign merit as to whether the celebrity is big or important enough to get attention.

I feel like respectfully this discussion be started in its own thread, since it seems it is going to rage on for a while.
