I have two Betas, which will be the limit for right now. Thank you to everyone who has shown interest!
I am looking for beta readers for my STATUS: POSITIVE manuscript. It is 198 pages (57,000+ words), double spaced and formatted at 12pt font. I have different file formats available (pdf, mobi, ePub). It is mature YA (new adult could be considered) and there is some language. Only serious inquiries please as this will require some back and forth.
***I'm not looking for line-by-line critiques. If you see any typos, let me know. I'm looking for flow, clarity, how engaging the work is, and general feedback. "Dill, do more of this and less of this." I do better when you show me what I need to do MORE of or what I've done right. Let me know what you've enjoyed. I can easily fix the boring or confusing stuff if I have a reference point.***
Message me if you are interested.
Check out my blog for more information on the project.

Status: Positive is a YA dystopian novel set in a world parallel to our own. There, scientists have discovered the gay gene, known as Gene-x. People are no longer separated into gay and straight. Rather, they are assigned a Positive or Negative status based on the possession of this one gene.
I wrote STATUS: POSITIVE for every young adult who has ever felt scared, alone, and different. This manuscript is for the people who are literally dying to make a change. I’m here to tell them that they are not by themselves. The manuscript has a setting that combines Divergent with The Giver and a main character who could easily win The Hunger Games. The main themes are anti-bullying, strong female voice, taking a stand, and making a change even if something doesn’t directly affect you.
Blue Stevens can take care of herself. Growing up a straight teenage girl with two fathers gave her confidence. Living in an isolated Compound for segregated homosexuals and their families taught her to be strong. Her main concerns are the men that walk the walls of the Compound, patrolling all day and night with assault rifles. She’s afraid of the light-sensitive tattoo on her right wrist, which marks her as Segregated. Blue is afraid that one day, her entire community could be killed because of who they are and who they were born to love. Blue craves one of the most dangerous thing lurking around the Compound, knowledge of the outside world. The self-sufficient Compound and its Community are all she should need. Yet, Blue feels alone as she shifts from one unfulfilling work study to another.
After her best friend is nearly beaten to death by two Positives when he comes out as bisexual, the decision is made. It is time for her to step up and lead. She could choose to follow her Dad in running the Compound. Or she could go one step further. She could get out. Too bad her best and only chance at leaving involves connecting with her birthmother and teaming up with a chauvinistic new arrival who is harboring some deadly secrets of his own- secrets which reveal the potential of Blue’s power and influence.
With a knife firmly in her hand, soot in her hair, and gunpowder on her shoulder, Blue fights to find the truth to her ultimate question; who am I? For her, the answer will change the future not only of the entire Compound, but of the entire world.
