There was also the fact that he had a bunch of aliens to distract him from smashing up the heroes...

Poor Thor was right next to him when they took down most of the aliens in the area.

Apparently the original cut was over three hours long. I think we're going to get a directors cut.

Speaking of which, did a directors cut come out for Green Lantern? I can't help but to feel there was a lot missing in that movie.

Yeah, mainly good acting, a great script, a decent villain and effective use of green lantern powers.

Re: Hulk/Banner lack of control/in control issue Personally I feel like there is a deleted scene we were supposed to see.
Actually, I am pretty sure you are right... proof after the tag.

While attempting to find a video of that awesome scene where he smashes Loki, I found an image of Hulk rising out of some debris, with what appeared to be a broken ceiling above him and a bunch of fire around him. That lead me to this website, here is the image.

Now one would think this image represents the fight with the Chitari, but if that is the case, why does Hulk look calm? Almost concerned? I think this shot was ORIGINALLY supposed to be him rising out of the debris in that factory he crashed into, but the scene was cut and they added the fire to make the shot looks like it was happening during the invasion for promotional purposes.

Watch the interview, and Mark pretty much confirmed it. He speaks that the most heartbreaking scene he saw cut was the extended scenes of him and Harry Dean Stanton, in which banner has his ultimate "come to jesus" moment.

Remember, Harry Dean Stanton said that when he walked up, the Hulk was AWAKE. Obviously a little fall from the sky was not going to slow him down, so why is Harry not blood pudding? It goes back to that whole child thing I love about the Hulk. When you piss off a kid, he throws a tantrum, and considering everyone in the world keeps attempting to capture him and put him in "time out" he lashes out in rage and fear. He does not want to be caged. As the old man was not a threat, maybe even asked if he was okay, the Hulk calmed down and realized the old man was not really someone that needed to be smashed. He didn't have that built up anger towards the man like he did towards S.H.I.E.L.D and the other Avengers at the time of his first transformation, due to all the arguing that happened just beforehand and the knowledge Fury had a cage for him.

When Harry woke Banner up and gave him clothes, mentioning that when he first saw him he was "awake", Banner then marveled that Harry was not hurt, I think he came to realize that the Hulk is not always a bad entity, and that if he just gave in and gave Hulk a proper focus, that the Hulk would do the right thing in the end. This is a staple of the character for me, and having some scene in which Banner "gains control" of the Hulk would be more damaging to his core, Banner and the Hulk work best as individual personalities constantly leveraging eachother, the brainy scientist and the big green kid with anger problems. That is my opinion anyways.

Also, it has been announced that there will be 30 minutes added back into the movie for the Blu-Ray cut, likely the scene I mentioned in the spoiler will be one of them.

I hope when they recut it for blu-ray they trim down some of the blatent product placement scenes. Particularly the walk-off shot where the camera lingers on the Nissan Versa (the only car miraculously undamanged).

To be honest I never even noticed that shot. Maybe I have been desensitized by Michael Bay and his overt product placement that the little random placements no longer register with me.

It stood out to me for a couple of reasons,
  1. The Car was center in the camera with focus, while the characters walked around it.
  2. Dialog was ending while the characters were off(exiting) camera while it stayed focused on that damn car.
I understand product placement, it can be done well, but that was just bad.

I didn't notice either, but I'm not really a car person. I couldn't tell you the difference between Michael Schumacher's racecar and a pickup truck.

I didn't notice the Versa thing either.

As for the picture of the hulk, I think that's actually a scene in the movie. I remember it because it surprised me that the hulk was bleeding from his nose. I think it's right after the fight starts to look like the heroes are being overwhelmed (hawkeye out of arrows, hulk being bombarded by shots, etc). I distinctly remember it and the look on his face. I don't think it's from some deleted scene.

I remember Hulk getting blasted a bunch before cutting to someone else, but I don't remember that specific shot. Could be I just forgot it, I admit. Either way, we know a scene with Harry Dean Stanton is missing, Mark himself mentions it, so we know there is more to it, regardless of when that image actually happened. The image was just what lead me to the interview.

Holy crap, this was so awesome... the 1st ever super hero film i have absolutely no complaints about... and Loki wasn't emo almost at all...

And they even had the helicarier... now they have no excuse not to use the Mandarin, if they can pull off a flying boat 80's, takes over half of China Mandarin should be easy...

Re: Hulk/Banner lack of control/in control issue Personally I feel like there is a deleted scene we were supposed to see.
What are you talking about, the scene was right there, and featured and old polygamist.... i mean there was no other point i could see for that scene...

Also, COURTING DEATH!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was blowing kisses at the screen during that... it was beautiful...

Joss Whedon is my master now... again.

neat part is the gauntlet is already movie canon because of Thor 1.

I'm also being told that the
gem in Loki's staff throughout The Avengers was the Mind gem.

Interesting! I hadn't heard that. Do you have a source for that info?

Also, I read somewhere that they intend on the next batch of solo movies to be more cosmic based to set up for Avengers 2. That would make sense, given the plans for Guardians of the Galaxy.

Speaking of which, is anyone else watching Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes? The Guardians of the Galaxy just showed up in the latest episode. Best parts? Rocket Racoon and....I AM GROOT!

I am interested in seeing the rest of that scene. I'll find out if I remember that right soon enough...when I watch the movie again.

Hey, I had that theory. I was kind of getting mad at people who I heard complain that the group turning on each other in the presence of the staff made no sense.

The issue is they never really clarified it, and a certain cut took a lot of the tension out of it.

Basically, there are only two scenes that imply the staff was causing the fight. One was the shot of Bruce getting upset, and then he realized he had picked up the staff subconsiously, and the second was when it had the weird tracking shot while they were arguing, kind of going over the staff and then upside down while a low buzzing sounds was in the background. This was a great way to show the staff was causing them to get angry and violent with eachother, but then they immediately cut to Hawkeye flying in with his crew of soldiers after the upside down shot. Why did this take away the thunder? Because, and this is what most of those I saw it with thought, it implied that the buzzing was actually a transmission Hawkeye was using to find the carrier, rather then a mental barrage. Whether that was true or not didn't matter, the events lined up to cleanly.

I have a feeling that one of the missing scenes will be one clarifying the whole influence of the staff.
