best dvd playback software for my computer HAL

topic. I am having trouble finding software that does a good job of cleaning up the image of dvd's on my HD monitor.

VLC is pretty much a standard tool fro video playback on pc. You will struggle to find something it can't play. But for best quality maybe not the perfect option. Try it out and see how it goes. Somebody else will probably know better but that is my 2c worth.

Power DVD 10 actually UPconverts video to HD specs as long as the monitor supports it. Not free.

I actually have powerdvd 9 ULTRA I am just to cheap to convert to 10

The latest version of VLC supports hardware accelerated video decoding (with nVidia and ATI), I wonder if that makes any improvements in visual quality.

I say VLC as well. It's unofficial motto is "it just works." I like that, it doesn't care about what codecs and crap you have installed... it's thin, it's minimally invasive, and it just. freakin. works.

VLC seems to work amazing, I like the interface too...
