Way to send out a new firmware update that not only screws up your network, but also screws up every non-slim system so that it can't play trophy awarding games.
Bravo.

And even though they fixed it - DON'T PLAY FOR 24 HOURS OR YOU MAY BE BONED!!

It's not just trophy games. I know Siren: Blood Curse doesn't work ether and it doesn't have them. And actually, some of the Slims are having problems too.

It's some fucked up calender error that has to do with leap years or something

I just picked up a Slim PS3 about a week ago cause my fat PS3 died so I had no issue with my system.

It even screwed up developer de-bug units, so that they're having trouble continuing with games in production.
Didn't the Zune have some sort of calendar error recently?

I think this was the plot from Superman III - The Quest for Play. Zod totally disabled Supes gaming, but Superman spun the world backwards and kicked Zod in the nuts. Something like that. Life imitates art.
Well, the wii still works at least. It's-a Mario time.

Damn it. They thought it might be a fucking leap year. Good thing I haven't turned my PS3 on awhile now.
Still this is fucked up man. If I wait till the end of the week to turn it on I should be fine right? I only got my PS3
middle of last year.

Dear Programmers:
The Gregorian Calendar has been around since 1582.

Luckily we have a slim version here as I'm quite hooked on Heavy Rain.

Okay just a bummer since I'm picking up my copy of Bad Company 2 today. How is Heavy Rain?
I'd love to get it now just can't afford it at the moment.

Heavy Rain is pretty much an interactive detective movie. Very nice and smooth animations and a cool story to boot. In any other game (aside from Farenheit) I loathe quick time events, but here it's real nicely integrated into the entirety of the game. It really sucked me into the game and kept me on my toes throughout it.
We made a game evening out of it, with a couple of brewski's and playing the night away we went through it in one go, lasting about 7-8 hours. I've just started a second play through and I'm noticing a lot of missed details and taking other actions resulting in a nice change in some of the story elements. It's worth every penny.

Good thing I don't have time to play any games this week.
Sony had to drop the price somehow early on, which is why they dumped the backwards compatible hardware. Never mind the fact that first generation Sony consoles NEVER work right anyway...

True but still... it would so nice.

Aha! I'm ahead of the curve! I kept my slim PS2 for just such an occasion! Now I'll show you all by going...and...
Crap, that's right. It's been lent out to a friend of mine for months.

They fail, but they're definitely the best first gen anything that Sony's ever produced.

They dropped the backwards compatibility because the laser switching would cause issues later on when it broke down. Also, they needed to boost their PS2 sales to match numbers.
