I skimmed the comics themselves and just read the message. Yeah, that's stupid. It would've taken minimal effort to draw new "God and dude" art if they wanted a new punchline.I'd go with that QP if they hadn't completely altered the text. Seems weird they changed itit.
That's....that's a good point.When I saw it on facebook I wondered if it was his art. It was obviously edited into a more fitting religious message - the ending wasn't uplifting, and the middle text was strengthened to support christian culture.
The kicker is that this is not his audience. It got 14k shares because it was edited.
If it was posted as-is, it wouldn't have been shared nearly as much. If it was posted edited with attribution it wouldn't have been shared as much because the underlying comic doesn't fit their religious ideals.
So while I applaud Kris for asserting ownership (and I hope he filed the appropriate DMCA claims against facebook) he didn't lose anything that he would have otherwise had. Perhaps some of the people who would find the uplifting message interesting would also like his work - but for the most part his work, when it touches on religion, treats it negatively.
