Karen Gillan really does climb up my celebrity crush list more and more every time the camera catches her emoting. So fracking PRETTY. Yet also sexy. But SO GODDAMNED BEAUTIFUL.

and her accent. *sigh* So beautiful.

This week's Doctor Who Confidential is focused on her. I wish I could stay up and watch the rest of it tonight, but I have to go to bed.

-Smith is damn good as the Doctor. He hadn't sold me after the first episode, but I saw a lot of potential. I honestly think he has potential to go beyond Tennant, to be honest. Tennant was great but he was a little too...cartoony, sometimes? But the thing that cinched it for me was Smith's "angry Doctor" in this week's episode. It was similar to Tennant's line: "No second chances. I'm that sort of a man." It was the kind of performance that made me believe that he just "out-darked" Eccelston. And Smith's angry performance here was so much fucking better than Tennant's. That alone, like Tennant's "satasuma" moment, filled me with ridiculous amounts of hope.
I kinda cheered when he went Angry Doctor for a minute. I was a little shocked, I didn't think someone so "young" could portray the 900 years of anger and sadness locked inside.. That, was a great scene.

Is he a bad Doctor? No. Do I think he'll be the next Tennant? Definitely no. Its still a great show but its lost a lot of that specialness that made it great in my eyes. I know, the character regenerates, we get a new lead actor to play him, the show continues. But..its Tennant.

*sigh*

Open your mind a bit, dude. I LOVED Tennant like nobody's business, I choked up with the whole "I don't wanna go!" bit and everything. He's MY doctor.... but I also hated him at first for taking over Eccleston's place, y'know? It took some time for him to grow on me as much as he did, so it's only fair to give smith the same chance. The series could very well surpass even Tennant's tenure.... remember, Moffat did give us the best episodes of the previous seasons, don't be too tennant-fanboyish to stop yourself from appreciating that. Give it a chance, is all I'm sayin'.

^This. Personally, of Tennant and Eccelston, I prefer Eccelston, mostly because he was my first Doctor. BUT, he only had one season to play with where Tennant had four and a half to grow on.

That said, everyone has their favourite Doctor and still to this day believe that Doctor to be the best one. There are a lot, for example, that still believe Tom Baker to be the best. And there's absolutely NOTHING wrong with Tennant being your favourite, because he was fantastic. But after two episodes, with a great companion and most especially a great writer, I have a lot of faith in Smith.

Eccleston was my first Doctor too, and I fracking LOVED him. Seriously. I still consider The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances as one of my favorite Who story lines of all time. I HATED it when he left and was replaced by that guy with the weird hair and the sneakers.

But then Tennant became MY doctor. He's the one that made me fall in love with the show, the character, the mythos, the whole thing. Seeing him go was heart breaking, seriously. But this new guy has promise.. and more than faith in him I have faith in Moffat, who quickly became my favorite who writer, by far. So I'm really looking forward to this season, even if it's not MY doctor anymore.

Hey, who knows, maybe Smith will replace Tennant in my heart as MY doctor. I doubt it, but I'll give him the chance just as Tennant had, y'know? The series can still be as good or even better than Tennant's without MY doctor being in it.

While Eleven is a "different" person, he probably remembers at least some (if not all) his time as Ten, and what cleaning up after humans has cost him personally.
He PROBABLY remembers? Dude, do you know how time lord regenerations work? He remembers EVERYTHING from ALL his incarnations. It's a different personality, but not a different memory.[/QUOTE]

Yes, but it's only been like a day or two since his re-gen, and we know his memory is a little fuzzy for a bit afterwards; the pieces might not have been fully re-assembled yet.

I have been fairly disappointed so far. I've loved Tennant as well and have been very sad to see him go. I'm willing to give Smith a chance (thank GOD they made him get a haircut!) and I've been surprised by a couple of the Tardis changes... but mainly I've been disappointed by a lackluster premise. For the first time since Doctor Who came back I've considered waiting a few weeks to catch up with a bunch of episodes at once - the last (first) two, to me, haven't been worth really watching.. sure maybe a couple scenes worth catching, but overall, not worth my time. I don't have the time to explain my rationale for this (at work you see) .. just that I didn't care much for the episodes themselves.. That said, I AM looking forward to the Dalek episode coming up, and I REALLY hope the episodes get much better! I know it took Eccleston and Tennant a while to get going too.

Love the opening intro though, plus the music.

I'm digging the new season and Doctor so far. I was a little unimpressed at first, his little almost-mad outbursts were weak compared to his zany side (which is great!). But his NO HUMAN line was striking, as was the shot of the new companion staring into space towards the end of the episode. I think the twists and the writing in general has been good so far, and to me totally made up for the rather lackluster final episodes of Tennant.
