By the way, I'm posting this semi-anonymously due to facts which will become clear soon*.

I've always been a hypocrite when it comes to marijuana. I understand that it's better for you than both alcohol and cigarette smoking and that the only reason it's illegal is because of the whole paper/hemp thing and the fact that criminalization brings in money for governments. My wife used to partake but has not since we've been married due to my intense dislike of it. So I have this disconnect between my intellectual analysis of marijuana use and the actual smoking of it.

My wife still talks about wanting to smoke occasionally, but she hasn't. This Thursday is her birthday. Friday I'm farming the kids off to other people so we have the house to ourselves with nowhere to have to be. We're going to go out to dinner and when we get home...I'm going to break out the weed and I'm going to get high for the first time in my life.

I've never been drunk, I've never been high. Until one week from tomorrow.

*In case you didn't figure it out, I did this semi-anonymously so that an employer or something can't easily figure out that I'm going to willingly commit an illegal act.

If it's your first time go easy at first. Meaning have a couple of hits and let them settle to see how the particular strain of pot you have will affect you.

Also, and this probably goes without saying, have some favorite snack foods on hand as the munchies are one of the most common affects people experience. Some fun movies, cartoons and/or video games will help too. And it's really good that the kids are out of the picture because sex is very likely. ;)

All in all have a blast with it. The more relaxed you are when you do it the better the experience will be.

One question I have...

How much should I buy and what is a good price? (Of course, this is all theoretical in nature and is for entertainment purposes only!) Not that I wouldn't be able to trust a drug dealer - I hear they are very trustworthy - but if I go in blind there's a better chance I'll get taken.

if you just plan on smoking that evening, you'll only need 2 or 3 joints. (3 = you completely wasted out of this world).. So you need to buy no more than a few grams.

For example: Last month i bought 50 € of decent weed, meaning i had 6 or 7 grams. 10 years ago, i would have lasted 3 days. I just finished the weed yesterday and i must have smoked 15-20 joints

I've always been curious m'self, but considering my choice of profession I'd rather safely remain a teacher than indulge my curiosity. Unless it's legalized or I'm in a country where smoking a joint is legal - the rather of course being much much more likely.

I dunno, I smoked pot once and it didn't get me high at all. I hear thats normal for the first time you ever smoke, so be prepared for that.

Well I only did a few hits, but they were talking about how strong it was and how good their bong thing was so I'd think I'd feel something. Well, other than the intense burning pain in my throat haha.

Yeah, first time I smoked up I didn't get high, either. However, if she hasn't smoked in a long time, let me caution you to not buy really good weed. Once after a long time of not smoking, an acquaintance asked if I wanted to smoke up with him. I agreed, forgetting that this guy is a total pothead and buys primo stuff. Two puffs and half an hour later, I was puking my guts out.

Last I recall, an eighth (3.5 g) of regular weed cost $35-40 'round my parts. This was years ago, though.

I smoked a little in my late teens/early 20's and it was always just a nice buzz, kind of like having 2 or 3 beers. Nice, but it never blew me away so I figured I'd stick with legal stuff. Have fun though "anonymous guy" and enjoy those first few choking inhales :p

I was not in any way deriding Scott's post. In fact, the only reason I separated him from the other three was that his was above and beyond quality. It was classy as fuck and he didn't have to do it.

As I've said before Ive never done illegal drugs and never wanted to. I very rarely drink but usually don't and never did as a teen. I don't wish I had or anything. I was perfectly happy with my life not having that stuff in it. I guess i can't relate.

Basically the same for me. I have nothing against drinking, I just really never find drinks that I like all the often. I did get pretty drunk at my brother's wedding due to this fantastic tasting champagne, but really most of the time I only drink something because I already paid for it, or someone else did, even if I hate it. If people want to do that kind of thing, great for them. No real interest in it for me.

So you are saying it's not that many of the impoverished areas of the country are nonwhite and therefore much of the drug culture and arrests involve non-whites but instead they are just using it as a way to put minorities in jail for funsies?

Also what was that about criminalizing things making money for the government? It's incredibly expensive to the government and the legal system to enforce and prosecute these laws.

I believe the war on pot is a completely ineffective waste of natural resources and abhorrent persecution of a vice no worse than alcohol or tobacco. That said, I tried it once in college and did not have a good experience at all. Started turning blue, gasping for breath but my innards still screamed inside my head that I wasn't getting any oxygen. Never had the inclination to try it again. But I've known many people who used it recreationally who were no more stupid or irresponsible than any other human out there, not that that's saying much.

You may want to consider consumables for your first go around. It's less awkward than trying to figure out how to roll a joint or how a bong works. Plus you can freeze them for later if you liked it.

Just make sure you don't have anything planned for the rest of the day. And maybe nothing tomorrow.

Again I agree with Charlie.

Besides Crystal Meth, most drugs fall amongst minority users. Marijuana is illegal because the Mexicans and Jazz Musicians smoked it, and Cocaine has been a large part of African American Culture since slavery.
