I don't think it was the first thing I saw him in, but my earliest memory of him was his role in Animal House. Yep, definitely that. Then Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

He's had a helluva career, hasn't he?

Seemed like a super cool guy too. Put on a watch list by the US government for being anti-war. Kept that shit up till the end.

Weird he was only 88. I always thought he looked ancient.

Not the first thing I saw him in but his role in Backdraft was quite memorable for me. Always pleasant to see him show up in a movie.
