I was expecting the graphics to pop more...

I had to go to Google to find out that DotA was Defense of teh Ancients. Even their website says nothing but DotA and DotA2.

Already too wrapped up in League of Legends to really care about DoTA2 now... even HoN going F2P didn't really get me interested.

The only way I'd be interested really in taking the time to switch games is if one of them gets a supreme-commander style zoom option instead of a minimap. I don't know why we still cling to the minimap convention. It'd be like making cell phones intentionally no smaller than they first were even though the technology is perfectly capable of doing so for cheap.

Maybe that's the difference then... because I couldn't stand the original DOTA. It even put me off LoL as a "dota-clone" until a month or two ago.

Yeah, if you didn't enjoy the original... it is highly unlikely you will enjoy the second one.

Also... no tactical zoom for Gas!!!

Demigod was my gateway drug into the genre. In some ways, I still think it's better. If you could mix LoL's vast myriad characters with Demigod's upgrade system and variety of levels (AND TACTICAL ZOOM/CAMERA CONTROLS), I'd say that'd be pretty frickin' sweet.

Pretty much this for me too. If I do get it, it'll be much later, when they fix that UI, and if I hit my head against a wall enough to come to like the denying mechanic.

Otherwise LoL is just fine. HoN graphics turned me off, tbh, couldn't tell what the crap was happening on the screen.
