Look, just tell us how much you want us to hate you EA and we'll get right on it. A bud of mine that I play CoX with mentioned he was having billing problems with his canceled Warhammer account, apparently for some folks it's pretty bad.

From the Kotaku article:

A screw-up in EA's Warhammer Online billing system has resulted in many players being charged upwards of 22 times for a one-month subscription, filling bank accounts with overdraft fees and the Warhammer forums with very angry players.

EA says:
We have confirmed with our vendor that players who have been charged multiple times for their subscriptions should start seeing a reversal of charges within 24-36 hours. We anticipate that once the charges have been reversed, any fees that have been incurred should be refunded as well.

So a bank will give up free cash just cause EA says so? Damn talk about having a fantasy world.

One of the commenters even made a poem about it:

Bank will only refund it if EA gives them the money or the user has a good relation with the bank (they have to talk to them)

You know, the majority of gamers of MMOs don’t exactly have the grandest of budgets (most are young or students) and to be billed 11 to 17 times (one guy got charged 35 times in a span of 8 seconds) is absolutely asinine. Imagine waking up and seeing $250+ taken from your account, so many of these people hit by overdraft fees. The bank better be cooperative because it certainly isn’t the client’s fault that this happened. I don’t know how it works in America but in Canada you’re not accountable for these types of fubars.

I’m awestruck that while I read the thread, I realized that this WASN’T THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED! Thank God I hated that game.

I'm on page 4 of that thread. It seems that most banks are cooperating, but not all. In fact, some are stoutly refusing to refund these charges even though they were on the phone with Mythic's CS at the time.

I expect MANY lawsuits.

This is why you don't link up your actual bank account with any subscription account. It's much easier to deal with credit than your actual checking account if things fuck up.

Yup. I usually use game card or rechargable Visa (you can get those now-a-days) or even just a CC if you have one.

definitely better to use prepaid cards!

...and to think back in 2001 I was seeking to work FOR EA! (shudder)

What scares me is that subscription is NOT a NEW SYSTEM. How can finance make such a F-UP on this? Warhammer has been out for a while now.

That would work if they still used said cards, but I heard Mythic discontinued them.

If this type of thing happened in WoW I would be livid. I don't even want to think if such a thing happened to me. It does not even occur just on existing account, supposedly even long canceled accounts were getting added to the spam billings. I know Gas used to (or even still does) play, I wonder if this happened to him.
