Dave, don't worry about it. It caters to a select type of person and is both the best and worst game I have ever played.

I will be joining LED in two weeks under the name Deschain. Hopefully, some of the old HC is still around. I'd hate to have to learn everybody again.

Cuyval Dar

Well, you might bump into me in a joint LED-FDC raid/counter-attack. See ya then.

D

Deschain

Hopefully. I'm that guy, that when all the other LED are fine guarding DMC, I like going on raids with the FDC.

C

Cuyval Dar

7 hours straight of kicking ass in small-medium size squads, and making shit loads of money through the magic of buy low/sell high. I love the FDC.

Yea, some of the people are dicks. After all, it's like a cross-section of the Internet. If you can get lucky, try to find someone who is in charge of training, look at the departments.

I joined the FDC but they are being dicks.Im gonna give this game a try though
How so? Are they, you know, trying to get you to follow orders and obey the command structure? Because if so, I have zero sympathy. The FDC instills discipline for a reason.

Look me up IG as Cuyval Dar. I can help you get started with weapons/armor and make sure you have the correct uniform.

-Viper Assault Jacket
-Tactical Trousers
-Perfect Step or Militech shoes
-Pythica Ceremonial Legs, Chest, arms, and Shoulders
-Infensus x2 Helmet
-Gloves are up to you. There are many for sale on Yukon. I recommend getting the FDC Skirmish gloves.
I recommend getting a Low-Quality Linner PP7 or a TAR.

Actually I was asking people for directions towards a area that i had to guard, and well, they told me to buzz off. Fei Ayabara is ingame name.

Oh god, Tokyo is hell. They combined three areas into one, and only the veterans who were in the Tokyo department know how to navigate it. I was part of [NYC] so I never bothered learning the layout.

A thing you might try out is TAR + shield implant +appropriate armor for the rest of your body + biocells + medkit. You'll function as a sniper, then if it turns into CQC, you'll turn on your shield and crouch, basically acting as a sniper-tank. You 'll should be pretty accurate and you do a load of damage with a TAR. The problem is you're stationary, but the shield is supposed to absorb most of the damage and then you pop meds to counter that. Fails against energy weapons though, you're better off running around.

I've tried it out quite a few times, works best in large group combos (because you're harder to notice) and against single assailants who don't have the drop on you. It really depends though and I don't have enough combat experience with it to judge how effective it is.

Im really starting to enjoy this game.Though i hate the Guard Nami plaza groups. I had to crouch for half an hour on one freaking spot. Boooring. But patrols are fun,and hunting BoS is always nice.

Don't tell them I told you this, but if the mission system is the same, there's a really easy way you can farm. You need to be high enough to make missions and have a willing partner too though. Usually, I just do enough to get started in making stuff, then make stuff for money on the side and equip myself like that. I'll probably be part of the LSD in the LED, especially if Arutha is heading it. The FDC don't really like him/her, but I have a different opinion on the matter.

You never mentioned your IGN.

I don't really care, so long as you can keep a handle on the LED and have them stop ninja scanning/stunning and arresting FDC, especially on NYC.

I don't have any power now, and whether I do depends on who is in charge when I get there. If it's Mike Rock or anyone from my time in CB, then I'll at least be known as a veteran officer. I tried to teach in DPI not to arrest FDC unless they are MW status and if then, allow them to turn themselves in at the best available time. Unfortunately, with the way LED policies are, it may or may not be encouraged. Scanning I unfortunately have no control over. I think it's actually encouraged to keep drug use down even though they're pretty much necessary and any officer/soldier worth his salt regularly uses them.

Got my fix of drugs troough killing BoS,booyah! I had no problems with LED till now, though there were 2 rouge LEDs whe tried to gank me for no reason (had 2 clips of ammo in inv, nothing else).Lucky me group was just around the and they got filled with led.

IGN is Fei Ayabara.Just got promoted to private... yey!

Yes, esp. with OB you'll have alts all over the place. Do not trust patrolmen unless they are returning veterans. I would feel alright with Constables and safe with either anyone R3+ or seems to be trusted by others.

The official policy by Mike Rock is not to scan FDC. He encourages FDC to scan LED, because, honestly, police should not use/deal drugs. LED policies are generally fine, but you guys have no mandatory training at all, unlike FDC. You get that, and boot a lot of the power abusers, and LED will kick ass in my book.

Mike Rock is a veteran at least, some think he is too soft. Yea FDC are encouraged to scan LED, but it leads to where LED think it's unfair that they cannot scan FDC, ergo ninjascanning.

No mandatory training? That's odd, since it's OB, there should be the manpower to run training/DPI courses. A lot of the training is rules and regulations, there was very little emphasis on fighting. You basically learned it yourself, or from someone who was better than you. The servers used to be based on Europe, so lag made it impossible for me to fight and I never bothered learning how to. When CB rolled around, I learned a bit, but was never very good (like Audie, Arutha, Kitty, or Drake) since FoM fighting is almost entirely different than regular FPS fighting.

Look up Drake sometimes. They say he's the best fighter in the game. He could basically take on 5-6 people by himself and win.

I've downloaded it and kicked around for about an hour. I like the concept, but it certainly didn't grab me by the cahones.

Ok,I'm a little late to post this, but the game went retail, and is $10 USD per month, with discounts for longer packages. I strongly encourage anyone who has tried this to try again, and if you haven't do so.

There is a learning curve to the game, but if you get past it, it really is rewarding. The community is incredible, and once you get the hang of it, the combat is really fun.
If you do play, watch the included tutorial video, and join the Freedom Defense Corps (FDC). The FDC is the most friendly to beginners, and will teach you everything there is to know about the game, if you ask.
There is now a noob-only area that only new players and GMs/community reps can access within the first 24 hrs of actual playing time.

Look me up ingame as Cuyval Dar, and I can hook you up. Get on the forum.fomportal.com and link your game account to access faction-specific forums (http://forum.fomportal.com/fom_form.php).

I might add that there are still free accounts that are fully functional and not crippling.

I'm downloading now. I'm a huge fan of open PvP worlds with user defined structure IF they end up having real structure. EvE was probably my favorite MMO of all time, but was too hard to play on a casual level. I'm getting really mixed signals on this one, and frankly the videos I have seen make me a little naseous due to all the bunny hopping and circa '98 FPS action. However, like I said, I'll give it a try.

C

Cuyval Dar

Ah, you mean the "FoMdance". The need for that has been almost completely eliminated from the game. Those videos must have been from a few years ago.

I did try the game, I really did, but it seemed to me like EvE online did. It would take a large chunk of time to really get into the game and get to the stuff I'd enjoy. Quite frankly, I just don't want to invest that much time into a game right now.

I'm downloading this now, and I'll give it a go tomorrow after work.
I'll report back. :D
