Favorite voice-actors.

This is partially inspired by some posts in the "Teenage Alien Ninja Turtles" thread.

Now OF COURSE, my number one favorite is Mel Blanc. Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Tweety, he literally did them all. He was an inspiration to all vocalists every-where.

My second favorite has to be Frank Welker. Why? Because his range is Freddy Jones from Scooby Doo, to Megatron from Transformers. That is some motha-fizzuckin range right there.

And Mark Hammil, sweet strawberry Jesus Mark Hammil. He is probably my favorite Joker of all time.

Clancy motherfucking Brown. If Hamil was Joker, then Brown was Lex Luthor. And Rhino on Spectacular Spider-Man, which was also awesome.

He was also Mr.Freeze on Batman the Animated series. Even with-out a syntheziser, the man is GOLD! And he was also Super-moose on Jackie-Chan adventures...I'm sorry I was just ASTOUNDED by the range he'd have to have to go from Super-man's arch-nemesis to a silly cartoon within a cartoon.

YES! He is KICK-ASS! I am so glad he reprised his role as Heat-blast in Ben-10 Destroy all Aliens. And he is a waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better Vilgax than that guy who's voicing him now. Blum also does a pretty sweet Wolverine from what I've heard.

Restricting myself to living actors...

Welker, f'sure.
Also Jim Cummings, who kinda ended up being this generation's Mel Blanc.
John Kassir, who has voiced everything from the Crypt Keeper to Deadpool.
Billy West, the hometown guy who lived my dream.

He's also got a huge video game voice list too. This guy's amazing.

Mel Blanc, Frank Welker and Billy West were all mentioned, but I gotta toss Maurice Lamarche into the mix here too. Not quite the range of the big 3, but nonetheless some very impressive performances.
And did anyone mention Jim Cummings yet? Mr. Bumpy himself?
*edit: Oh, geez, right there. In the same post even that Billy West was. I'm blind.

NOOOOOOOOO he was not. Michael Ansara was Mr. Freeze....Kang from old school Star Trek.

Oh apparently Clancy Brown played Mr. Freeze in The Batman, but that's a different show. I do love Clancy Brown, don't get me wrong but Ansara is definitely the definitive Mr. Freeze.

Also, I like Steve Blum, but the guy doesn't exactly have a huge range. He's like Nolan North, who has a good voice and does good work but rarely goes beyond his normal range.

Now, my favorites that haven't been mentioned yet: I'm a big fan of Simon Templeman, the voice of Kain from Legacy of Kain and others. He doesn't really show up in much for some reason, but the dude has a fantastic, sinister British accent and I love listening to him. He made the Legacy of Kain games. I also really like Jennifer Hale and Tress MacNeille since female voice actors rarely get much recognition and these two are both fucking fantastic. I could marry Jennifer Hale's voice.

#10

Yoshimickster

Yoshimickster

Oh, THE Batman. I read that article wrong then. Probably my favorite voice actress would have to be Tress Macneile as well. She has literally been in everything. And yeah, Steve Blum doesn't have that much of a range but he's one of those voice-actors who doesn't need a range. He relies more on changing the frequency of his voice than out right changing it.

Like how in Ben 10 he has a deeper raspier voice, but in Megas XLR as Jamie he has a calmer voice.

Because when you say his name 3 times he appears. Man he was a great Bat-man. Who else was glad that he reprised his role in the Arkham games?

Dis friggin forum. Miss one comma and then silly pictures all around.

What's everyone's opinion on Chris Sabat? I think he's talented, but a lot of the new Funimation jobs he gets don't really challenge him as a voice-actor. This dude was Piccolo, Vegeta, Yamcha, and Shenlong. That is some motha-fizuckin' range.

Steve Blum is contractually obligated by the video game industry to be in every video game ever.

True Story.

He and Nolan North are the only ones bound to this.

I have always thought that James Earl Jones has a super kick ass voice and needs to do more narration.

Also, Patrick Stewart has an awesome voice.

Definitely needs to do more narration. Also more villain roles. He could seem so much creepier if he wanted to.

And yes, Keith David is freaking awesome. Man I want to watch Gargoyles again. BUT ONLY THE FIRTS TWO SEASONS! Cos after that it's comic time.

I'm going to add June Foray since she's still going after all this time.

That is a valid criticism. I recognize his voice now. When he was Oghren in Dragon Age, I heard him speak for the first time and went, "Oh, hello, Steve Blum."

Oh! Keith David!
That guy was my choice. His narration in Princess Monoke was some of the only good voice acting in the entire movie (still liked the flick).

Edit: Oh wait he was the voice of Okkoto.....but I could swear he also narrated the intro....anyways he also did these.

Tony Jay... I was so sad when he died. He voiced Frolo in the Disney Hunchback movie and the Elder God in the Legacy of Kain series.

OOOO, speaking of LoK, Micheal Bell. Yo JOE!

Going for people I haven't seen mentioned yet (though I didn't read the whole thread super closely),

1) Bruce Greenwood is probably the second best animated Batman out there.

2) Hank Azaria. The voice of Moe, Comic Book Guy, Professor Frink, Chief Wiggum, Apu, and Frank Grimes (just to name a few) on The Simpsons. Guy's got range.

3) Billy West! Stimpy, half the main cast of Futurama, etc.

4) Phil LaMarr. Most famous for being Samurai Jack, Hermes Conrad, Green Lantern, and Static (and for not even having an opinion before being shot in the face by John Travolta in Pulp Fiction) but the dude shows up everywhere.

5) Danica McKellar. OK, I haven't heard her in much but she is utterly fantastic on Young Justice.

6) Tim Daly. In my book, he is to Superman as Kevin Conroy is to Batman.

7) Tara Strong. Batgirl, Ben 10, Bubbles, Raven, Timmy Turner, Sari Sumdac, Billy Batson, Princess Ilana, and Twilight Sparkle...to name just a few.

#47

Yoshimickster

Yoshimickster

All good choices. I remember Tara Strong was on 3 eps on the Boondocks too. She was so vulagar compared to her silly kid-show roles. And yeah, Phil Lamarr is in everything. Dude get's freakin work.

I don't know about during, but I do know he was on MadTV after. They did a fake trailer sketch called "Gump Fiction" and there was a shot of Phil LaMarr screaming "Not again!".

I think this applies here, so I'm putting this here:

Emerald City ComiCon had voice actors this year. This is them reading Star Wars with different voices! BUBBLES as Darth Vader? YES PLEASE! Porky Pig as Obi Wan? A lot of amazing things happen here! XD This is video 1/8. The youtuber also has their other panel where they do other movies too like Princess Bride with Pinky & the Brain! :)
