Flaviar -- seemingly neat way to try booze

I found this website a while back, and finally decided to treat me and Callistarya for Christmas. They take 5 individual spirits, and repackage them into tasting sizes at an affordable price. You can even get in on a monthly or quarterly subscription. It all seems like a really awesome way to try top-shelf spirits. They have a lot of boozes that I've wanted to try, but never wanted to enough to shell out the hundred-dollars-a-bottle (or more!) for each one.

We have a flight of Irish whiskeys and a flight of cognacs coming in, and they should be here just in time to start the holiday celebrations

If you use my link, you get a $10 credit on any non-recurring transaction (meaning you can't use it on their subscription packs).

Yeah, different states have different rules when it comes to booze...unfortunately. :(

Fortunately for me, I don't live in Texas any more :D

It always makes me chuckle when some horrified Yankee references Texas as if it were some kind of lawless, anarchistic dystopian nation-sized thunderdome where the point of a gun and the curl of your snarl is the only law. "Obviously you've never tried to ship guns, booze, or flammable chemicals through Texas, if you think that." Between the ATF and the DPS, we've got jackbooted fascists aplenty.

I've bought whiskey online before and had it shipped to me in Texas. All I needed was a credit card no proof of age needed

Way to ruin Texas for me.

You weren't the one doing the shipping. Try driving a truck hauling beer in bulk and see how much bureaucracy that gets you.

Aww, come on. Now "Eastbound and down" is stuck in my head.

You can have wine shipped to you in Texas...but the brewer/distributor has to wade through the red tape and expense of getting a specific license for it. Beer and liquor are prohibited.

Whoever sent you that whiskey broke the law.

Took 6 weeks, but the tasting packs arrived today.

And my wife doesn't get home from work for another 4 hours.
It's worse than waiting for Christmas, I tell ya.

I got the Scotch tasting pack (because it's what my wife wanted)
  • 12 year old Auchentoshan
  • 18 year old Glenlivet
  • Laphoraig Quarter Cask
  • 16 year old Lagavulin
  • 15 year old Singleton of Dufftown.
And the Eau de Vie tasking pack (because it's what I wanted)
  • Dobbe Cognac XO
  • Martell VSOP
  • Gautier XO Gold & Blue
  • Baron Otard VSOP
  • Hennessy Fine Cognac
There's definitely more than a couple shots worth of each taste.

So, I posted pics on my facebook, and told my wife I'd wait til she gets home (which should be any minute now).

My daughter-in-law pipes up and says "Save some for me!"

I replied with this image
