Free XM radio? wtf?

So I've had my Chevy since 2005. It came with XM radio built in. We've been done with the 3 month free trial for a looong time now. Recently, I noticed when I change the radio band to the XM stations, I get all the stations. I haven't heard hide nor hair from any XM rep since 2005 when I told them to fuck off after they would call on a daily basis, asking if I wanted to subscribe.

I haven't submitted any payment info to them, nor received any bills of any sort. Is it free for preinstalled XM radios now, or did I just hit the jackpot?

Jackpot. Sometimes they leave it for longer than they should, but no way should it still be working after 6 years if you haven't paid.

If you left it off all this time, you radio's serial number may no longer be in the deactivation signal they send out to shut off radios of delinquent accounts.

I've never paid for it. We used it a bit with the free 3 month trial when we bought the car. After that was up XM blew up my phone and mailbox trying to get us to buy it. The final call involved me swearing a lot, and name dropping a bunch of guys I knew in college that went onto Ivy League law schools. I think credit card companies put less effort into constantly calling you about delinquent accounts than XM sales reps.

Dark may have stumbled onto something. Yesterday was probably the first time I've switched to the XM band on my radio in like three years.

After some deliberation, I have returned No drama seeking. Real advice giving and niceness. I swear.

I recently got mailer that indicated that sirius and XM were offering a free "preview" for a few weeks in Septermber in an attempt to lure past customers back in. See: http://www.siriusxm.com/max1

Enjoy while it lasts. They do these every so often if you have the device installed.

Ah. So it is like cable once in a while giving out free premium channel but trying to get you hook back to it.

Back to the matter at hand...

Got in the car this morning, and all the station logos on my XM receiver were missing. The background images for the genre types had all changed, too. Weird.
