Apparently the brain-wasting disease that Todd Akin suffers from is more common than we originally thought.

Just...just get that asshole off the bench as fast as humanly possible.

This is the kind of thing that pisses me off to no end. While the judge attributed his rant to frustrations with the prosecutor, there is no way on Earth it even begins to excuse what he did. He failed completely in his role, violated a rape victim all over again, and demonstrates a highly disturbing level of ignorance.

Maybe it's one mistake, but sometimes the mistake is so tremendous that it requires immediate, final action. Derek Johnson needs to be removed from his post without delay.

I understand the words you write. They are false. You accuse me of not undestanding subtle differences, I assert that "subtle differences" are so fine-grained as to not matter. One group wants to take actions that will bankrupt the nation quickly. The other wants to take actions that will bankrupt the nation almost as quickly. This is the illusion of choice. And blinkered, feel-good collectivists like you continue to perpetuate that illusion by labeling any other alternative as mentally unsound or deficient.

It's incredible that you can constantly deride me for labeling your view as crazy when you constantly act like everyone else is an idiot who is wrong because they don't agree with your view. It's narcissistic and removes any reason for debate.

If we're always going back to your inability to recognize subtle differences and accept there are ways in which you can be wrong as well, then we're back to me not responding to you again. You aren't bringing anything useful to the discussion.

Your way isn't a political view, it's a religion. I don't argue with religion because it's not based in fact but belief. You aren't swayed by facts or even acknowledge them. The huge difference between arguing with you and Stienman is Stienman brings something to the debate and can cause me to examine my position, leading to a better, more fact based discussion. You, on the other hand, always devolve into "LIBERTARIAN GOOD, EVERYONE ELSE BAD!"

I guess I find that a little crazy.

I never claimed not to be a narcissist. And for the record, yes, you are all idiots. But political views are only a piece of what makes you all that way.

At any rate, yes, there are subtle differences between RINOs and Democrats. Democrats want to increase spending by X%, RINOs want to increase spending by (X-(3x/100)% and call it a cut, and even die hard core Republicans want to increase spending by (X/2)%, and democrats call it a drastic cut and claim it will lead to freezing children starving in the streets and back to disemboweling homosexuals by the catholic church. It's ridiculous. The actual pragmatic outcomes are so near identical as to not have any meaningful differentiation at all. They're riding down the titanic and arguing about how often the doorknobs get polished in steerage as opposed to first class. And it is apparent that it is so to such a degree that even mainstream entertainment lampoons it. And we all chuckle "Ha ha, yep!" and then switch off our minds, because as long as we've got a hot pocket in the microwave and walking dead on HBO, we're happy to sit on deck until the last spar slips under the waves.

I'd have to be an idiot, too, to run for office. When the inmates run the asylumn only a fool stands up to volunteer to be a guard.

Besides, we're already past the point of no return. It's just a question of how long before the bill comes due, now. We've got $238 trillion in unfunded liabilities. Our debt to GDP ratio now is where Greece was in 2000, and we don't seem any more capable of changing course than they were.

But yeah, with absolutely no sarcasm in the following statement, Republicans are really wacko and should probably try not to make such dumb statements about rape. What turned Goldwater off to republicans was the craziness that took over their social agenda.

That's because there's nowhere else to go. To continue the metaphor, the economy of the town outside, Earthsville, is largely and inextricably interwoven with the operation of the asylum. Much of why the US is getting away with these shennanigans is because if we go down, we immediately take the EU and China with us, and then the rest of the world follows like a frayed sweater with a string being pulled. I'm not willing to abandon everything to start a ranch in New Zealand, so I'm resigned to my fate. Things are going to be very ugly and it is going to suck really bad and I can at least take comfort that I don't live in a large city, where the rioting will be worst. But that doesn't stop me from despising the nitwits and hypocrites who brought this upon us all.
